I fear F&P have lost that edge of built-in heated hoses now that other brands have taken up the idea. I really doubt if selling lots of HC150s with heated hoses would bring in enough business to justify the investment. But yes I think it would have been a great offering for those of us who like the superior HC150 H/H function.

The point is there would be NO Investment - as they already own the pieces. Yea, they are a day late - and a dollar short. Apparently the other mfg.'s think there is money in that market or they wouldn't be coming into it now.

As a marketer - all I can say .. Kudo's to Resmed.
1) At Intro - Price the new product well above the replacement S8 II to protect your current investment - so you don't immediately shift demand over to the new product;
2) Make the new product substantially better - demonstrating innovation and clear differentiation from your competition - which justifies the new price point and props it up over time;
3) Leak information about the product well ahead of supply - creating a market pull. Early adopters get HAMMERED but they get it first.
4) Limited supply, due to factory ramp - create demand - again justifying the price point;
5) Make a VERY GOOD product - from all the reports that I have seen from the early adopters on this forum- they HAVE actually made something that is REALLY good and is clearly better than the product that they are replacing. NO BS. NO MARKETING. Hard facts.
6) Work your base.. make sure as many people that have had a good experience with your product are aware of the new product;
7) MAKE MONEY !!!! ( No kidding !!) They've thrown a ton of money down a VERY BIG rabbit hole .. time to cash in. That's where you come in. Vote with your CASH. If you don't want it and don't see the value.. move on. Buy something else.

Yes! Pick up as many S8 and S8 II Autos and Elites as you can whilst they are still available!!! Much like the wise Respironics fans did w/the "tank" (Legacy) models when the M Series came into being!!!!
The more I read about the S9s the gladder and gladder I am that they aren't making an S9 bi-level auto!!!

I don't know what your posting has to do with the discussion thus far, but if Resmed limited its actions to what you wrote, there'd be no problem. But that's not what they're doing. They are constraining trade by forbidding internet sales to Canada (already done some time ago) and further constraining it by tightening the grip on internet distributors with artificial price floors and threats of cutting off those who would sell at competitive prices. That tells me that they don't want to be number one by your method. They just want to be number one whatever the cost and method. I will avoid, whenever possible, dealing with people who stop at nothing to part you from your money.

They produce some world-class electronic these days, in fact, is our own troops in the United States and Canada using domestic equipment in other countries, simply because it is better designed, better made and cheaper. This is no exception, if the mobile phone industry as the price raise, trying to do.
