Jeff, I like the idea of Lurker Day, I'm curious to know why they haven't posted, do you think they'll name names? I remember that I was lurking for about 2 weeks and getting lots of silent help without having to ask questions, I was petrified that Dear Snoredog would "get me" for asking a "dumb" question. But I got stumped on the question of "should Mike wear or not wear dentures with mask") and couldn't find anything. So that was my first post and along came Slinky with some good simple advice which I think I followed, but my second reply came from.....Mr.Snoredog, who proceeded to write about 10 paragraphs on the subject of jaw anatomy, dental articles, pros/cons,etc., but then followed up with a lovely PM in case he had "confused" me. It was love at first "bite"! After that I began to ask questions regularly and I found that if "you ask, they will come". Pick a day!

Last summer at my high school reunion (Class of '69) I found out that I was being "stalked" on here by an old school classmate. He's been on cpap for a few years, and was reading the message board and ran into a familiar name - mine. To my knowledge, he's still lurking out there somewhere.
DoriC - In one of my early posts I asked what AHI meant. And that was after being on cpap for nearly 6 months! Yes,
Snoredog often went to great lengths to help newbie's gain knowledge of their issues. I think as his daughter went to dental school he must have been studying her books. And his posts on neurology were informative. I was one of the newbie's he tried to help. Admittedly, there were a few times I carefully considered what I was posting because I didn't want to get on his bad side. One time I had to chuckle because it was apparent he was chomping at the bit to let me "have it" but for some reason he cut me a lot of slack. But Dori, who could EVER be discourteous to you? Now, that person would certainly experience some flaming peer pressure!

I had been on cpap for 5 years. I found this place when my machine broke and I needed a new one and started wondering what was out there. Didn't even know there were machines that recorded data, or that autos existed. I thought I had a top of the line deluxe model because I had a heated humidifier and basic c-flex!
I was already locked into my new machine (PR System 1 Pro) by the time I started really learning that there was much better things out there. If I knew what I know now, I would have fought for an auto... but thats how it goes.
Anyway, yeah, AHI, OSA, different mask options,.. ALL THAT! I was totally clueless. I'm sure I asked a LOT of dumb questions. Still do... There is still much to learn, but I feel like I have come a long way in just a few months!

K, the same thing happened to me only worse! I had joined a diet forum where we discussed our weight freely, our falls off the wagon ,emotional issues, etc, and I found out that one of my old high school friends who I had lost contact with, joined the same group and recognized me by some things I had posted. I was MORTIFIED when she contacted me and wanted to "talk" about it, and "won't it be fun". I tried to delete as much as I could and never went back there again. I blame her for this extra weight!

Both of you have such nice photos. You gotta dig through your bad photo albums and find a photo like mine...then no one will ever want to stalk you
Seriously that is kind of creepy!

I mostly lurk because I don't have much to say. I've learned what I needed to know by reading the Collective Wisdom (now the CPAP Wiki) and many threads over the past year. By this time there are many occasions where I could stick my two cents in, but I don't figure there's any reason for anyone to be the least bit interested in my opinion, so I mostly keep my thoughts to myself. That keeps me from getting involved in any debates.

I'm thinking at this point that the best way to lure the lurkers might be to have a "flame jeff's posterior" day!

Heck that would draw about 90% of internet lurkers searching "flame" on google or yahoo!
(And I think Jeff would enjoy the attention)

Well said. Valid choice.
But I gotta say that when I read a post put together that articulately, it makes me wonder how many other useful observations from you we may be missing out on in other threads.
I'm just sayin'.

I just looked at myself in the mirror as I walked by.
I think we're gonna need a bigger flame.

Now I'm REALLY glad I didn't bring up that I thought I recognized you from 8th grade!

Jeff, did Rebecca look anything like her avatar photo when she was in middle school? That's a face you wouldn't forget, that's for sure!

Looking thru my photos now for the worst of the worst. Plenty to choose from. Maybe I should use the one from back when there was a lot of monkey business going on here. When others were putting up monkey avatars, I thought it would be cute to merge an adorable preschool pic of mine with a cute baby monkey. We may have both been cute but not together. it was downright scary. That one would do the trick.
My lurking friend and I are in touch thru Facebook and I've seen him a couple times at recent alumni get-togethers. I'm trying to convert him to a cpap data geek but he's not easily persuaded. Figured I'd quit harrassing him before he starts avoiding me. He says his cpap treatment is going just fine, but I think he's just too busy enjoying life to want anything to cut into his fun time. Can't argue with that. If you're reading this, my friend, we have fun here too!
