r, this cpap business is scary stuff...especially in the beginning.
It certainly was for me.
It scared the crap out of me.

JNK and I are cpap/cpaptalk fraternity brothers.
We came into this just a few days apart.
We have shared our learning and our fears and our victories.
We also realized that we temper our emotions w/humor.
JNK, is that a fair assessment???

It is a very serious business that is going on here.

But, if we can laugh about it, about the process and about ourselves,
it helps.

For me, as the thearpy started to work and I learned
and I started to get my life back, I was able to see the humor.
Before that....not so much.

It's hard to be a cpap newbie just learning the nomenclature, procedures
and equipment....let alone the personalities that preside here.

....BUT, as I like to point out,
all things for a reason.....each individuals challenge to reason why..
and it's a journey.

So far, for me, it's a journey I would not have missed.....
for many reasons. I still struggle w/how I can help and
give back to this community. I don't think the debt I owe
here can ever be repaid. It literally gave me the
knowledge, support and encouragement to take my life back.

Thanks for joining, Major Lurker.
And special thanks for letting know you are helped.

For me, who lurked before overcoming my shyness, lurkers are indeed part of the community. They are there reading out posts - and I often think of them when responding.

Well even in my confusion I can always count on both of you to make me laugh--even when I don't know what you are talking about! Perhaps my sense of humour will go away when I feel better
Ozij has a wonderful way of explaining things that go over my head...sometimes subtly but never in a demeaning way.

Welcome Major Lurker....I would bet that you have helped JNK immensly. He got a lurker to post and a lot of people to flame him....

Well, I can't speak for JNK...but I will......we rarely know what we are talking about either.

See, now we're having some real fun.

It's all good.

Very fair. Except you left out the part about how I'm jealous of you and you get irritated by me. Oh, wait, I guess that is covered with the phrase "fraternity brothers," so never mind, you covered it. Does this make us our own inner circle?
carbonman wrote: . . . we rarely know what we are talking about either . . . .
For the record, I have no idea what you mean by that. So I guess that proves the point. And you can speak for me anytime, since I often don't even agree with myself when I read my old posts.

Thanks, Major. I am looking forward to the flames everyone is promising up there in the poll. From the figures so far, 2010 is looking like a GOOD year for me getting flamed more often. YES!

So, lurkers and newbies, when you see the flames, know that they are flames of love. Don't let it scare you. I live for them!

Jeff, I find it quite amusing that the most-voted-for choice is "What a stupid poll! I should flame your a**!" It is a good thing that I was not drinking or eating anything when I read the poll choices because I would've had a mess all over my computer monitor and desk! You crack me up!!!

I lurked for several weeks before registering. I am shy that way. And, even after joining, it took me quite a while to feel comfortable here. I almost left several times because I felt so "outside of the group." But now, you're all like family. Warts and all, this is the very best place to obtain information regarding sleep apnea and xPAP! People have been extremely helpful to me personally. And very patient, for the most part. I have asked some pretty dumb questions, especially early on, and have made some equally stupid comments on occasion, despite my best attempts to censor myself!

I do hope that Lurkers and Newbies, one and all, feel welcome here! Most of us don't bite — very hard, anyway — unless you like that sort of thing.

I've always been treated with respect and kindness here. Jeff, I don't care what anyone says, I love your polls!
This is what I was talking about! Hilarious! But I'll also never forget how both of you were always here for me when I was floundering, and there was nothing funny about your desire to help me as you are still doing for others struggling. Thank you.

Ozij, DreamOn, you two shy??

Hi Dori. Hard to believe, I know, but I am shy and very introverted in "real life". I'm that quiet one who's observing everyone, over near the corner of the room. I've always been able to express myself through writing and art, but I'm not much for talking. I am a good listener, though.

Yep.
Maybe except for the "very" introverted.

Until I warm up.

Thanks for posting that, Teitner. I've learned a lot here.

Maybe we should set up one day a week when all the posters lurk and all the lurkers post.
