Just because you choose not to wear a beard does not mean this is the right choice for everyone. Please try to respect differences in personal tastes in appearance. Not shaving is not LAZY... it is a choice on appearance and does require its own maintenance. Comparing beard-wearing people to terrorists is not only disrespectful, it is clearly ignorant.

I have a full beard and a tash and use the quattro, I've never had any leaks because of the beard. The only thing I was concerned about was the beard being a bit unhygienic after a night in a mask full of damp air and snot etc but I just boil my whole head in bleach every morning and the beard seems just fine .

Sorry, Sage. My husband was in an auto accident about 30 years ago and was darned lucky not to be killed. As it was, he had something like 27 stitches in his chin -- and the result is a rather ugly scar.

He was ordered by his doctor not to shave until it had healed... and when it had healed, the scar tissue was such that he can't shave over it.

So, my husband has a very handsome handlebar moustache and a beard -- by order of his doctor!

I have a large full beard and mustache -- and I haven't had any problems with using nasal masks.

Shave? I quit shaving at 18 when I discovered that the razor's were causing my skin problems, that was 50 years ago. Since getting the Cpap problem, I've discovered that I'm allergic to the mask material. When I can get the mask to seal at all, I have to put molehair pads between the mask and my skin. Where the mask seals against my beard, It doesn't break me out. But it takes a lot of pressure.
Bottom line: It's not an ego thing

Wow, I can't believe the a**holes telling you to shave! Probably they lack the testosterone to grow a beard, and are jealous . I have had a beard for 40 years+ (since I retired from the USAF). I find that nasal pillows work best.

I can attest to that. My husband maintains a beautiful white Santa beard all year just for his few appearances at nonprofits over the holidays. It takes work to keep it properly shaped, shiny and soft.

It didn't occur to me to check the dates of the posts. To a newbie, everything is new.

My brother has a full beard and he found the F&P 431 worked great until his stroke. He now uses the F&P Forma and that works pretty well too. He uses a sleep mask to hold the mask to his face for fit (reduces leaks). He uses the Walgreens Sleep Mask (about $8) and says it lasts pretty long. It has the right amount of stretch I guess. You could try it with your current mask before buying something else.
