So, how was it? and how was 8/6?

I didn't do the 8/6 but I did 9/6.
These settings were mostly good over the last few nights, except for the sudden burst of loud leaks at high pressures that wake me up.
9/6 was comfortable. I alwasy felt like I was getting enought air. I mostly slept well, and feel good & reseted through the day.

I just discovered what may be causing the problems:
I am using a Nasal Pillow: Swift™ LT for Her ; (The "Her" version was all they had at the time, and it fit good).
link: http://www.resmed.com/au/products/swift ... c=patients
It supports a Pressure range of 4cm to 20cm

With my system is setup with a MAX PRESSURE of 23cm, and with EPAP 9 and PS MAx 14, I easily get above the 20cm limit that my mask supports.
That’s when "sudden burst of loud leaks" happen.

Yet another mistake from my DME, providing me with a mask that is below the requirements of my prescription and the settings of my system. As a patient, I'd assume they automatically take care of stuff like this.

I don't know what I am going to do about it. I really like using a nasal pillow, and I don’t think it is a good idea to lower my max Pressure from 23 to 20cm at this time. My centrals are being taken care of.

I may be willing to lower the settings after I'm setup for self monitoring my data (smartcard reader& Software). Then I'll know if it’s working or not, rather than just going by how I feel.

The Breeze is a nasal pillows mask good up to 30 according to its documentation.

If it is, it should look like this:

It is not.
Nor are the signal outputs.

Oh-oh.

Muffy did a bad thing.

She clearly does not have the ability to count, even when the total can be determined metacarpally.

Muffy would have to find some bones in her body -- in addition to the funny bone -- if she wanted to count metacarpally.

If you are serious about your therapy you really need to get rid of your current mask and get a Quattro.

And another thing, I'm cold again. I forgot to light the butt-warming birthday candle this morning.

But seriously, as it turns out, the mini-din plug for the SleepLink cable is an 8-pin instead of a 7. I sorta went "1, 2, ahhh, it looks like 7".

Anyway, I'm operational, and it's clear that what's coming out of the back of the machine is different from the SleepLink, I'll have to trigger the alarm and see what happens.

BTW, why are we doing this again?

Because giving birth to a ResControl II wasn't enough for you?

Muffy, actually you were correct the first time. That is a 7 pin mini DIN connector you showed. The square pin is actually a key pin and not counted as an electrical pin. On most male connectors, it is made of plastic.

Re the sleeplink,
I finally found the doc that shows how it hooks up. I am not clear on the need for the AOM unit (Analogue Output Module).

I get the impression that SleepLink is only really of use to sleep clinics ? - not sure if there is any
real advantage in using it at home. I believe home use was when the SleepLink went through a modem
back to a clinic where the data is read in real time (as it is happening).

PS I count 7 pins in the pic shown (am still looking for the sleep link)

That's the communications port. The SleepLink (which isn't shown anywhere) is an 8.

Hey! Do you know that you can even turn the machine on and off with this interface?

Too bad the computer's in the family room downstairs and I sleep in the bedroom upstairs.

That and the fact that I don't use a machine.

OK, I'll try a machine for a night if you quit smoking.

During the Sleep study,
They used this to totally control the machine, setting your pressure settings through the night.
AND,
it provides them with a LOT more data than a smart card provides.

DSM:
You mentioned you have the pin-out for this connection? Something that describes each pin on that 7 Pin connector. If you do, please share.

Here is what I found with my test equipment / multimeter probing on this :

(top Left pin.............) Pin 1: +5 Volts (power for a active circuit)
(top Right pin...........) Pin 2: +3.3 Volts (possibly RS232 Transmit pin, TTL level)
(Center Row, Left pin ) Pin 3: 0 to 3.3 Volts (this is a Input, probably RS232 Receive, TTL level)
(Center Row, middle..) Pin 4: Center square alignment pin / plastic key pin
(Center Row, right pin) Pin 5: Ground
(bottom Left pin........) Pin 6: +3.3 Volts (possibly RS232 RTS pin, TTL level)
(bottom center pin.....) Pin 7: 0 to ?.? V(this is a Input, Probably Oximiter input. or RS232 CTS pin, TTL level)
(bottom right pin.......) Pin 8:+5 Volts (power for a active circuit)

It also seems match the pin numbers for a standard RS232 connection where PIN 2 = Transmit, PIN 3 = Receive, and PIN 5 = ground.
I'll know more soon.

I have the same issue, BiPAP machine upstairs, computer downstairs. After I figure the cable out, and how to get the data out of my machine directly; I'm thinking about ways to connect with a wireless interface. So I can get the data to my PC from my wireless hub (802.11n wireless network) in my home.

-----------------------------
Ugggg- Side note....Tough night last night. It is time to find a better mask... Even when I use the chin strap, air leaks out of my mouth at high pressure, making my lips flap when using a nasal pillow. Perhaps I'll try the tape method.
Sigh......

The pin out data I have is for the Nonin xPod & iPod. These send serial data from an SpO2 unit - the xPod allows an SpO2 probe to be plugged into it & the iPod has the SpO2 chip & the probe integrated into a single finger unit. The xPod & iPod units were forerunners to the very fancy all-in-one Spo2/probe/color screen SpO2 units of today.

But I agree that the data you posted looks like a classic RS232C pinout.
