Technical discussions are why I came here in the first place. I have learned a lot from you guys, and have learned to accept the fact that I need CPAP and just get on with it. I don't, however, ENJOY reading them. I do learn a lot from them when I do.

I'm fascinated with technical discussions even those over my head. I always learn something. I also voted for the last one just for fun!

I've noticed the view counts are often significantly higher on the more technical threads. People do read them.
I couldn't resist, either. I used my second vote for the last option

Ditto - absolutely!
I chose the first one on the list.

Hi Jnk
I really think you need to have more options.
For example - there are technical discussions where real words are used, and I can understand them,
and then there are technical discussions where made up words are used, and I cannot follow them at all
I think technical discussions with made up words should be banned, unless lexicography is also used. But the lexicon must explain the made up words without using made up words, or else where would we be
I am all for scientific discussion, as long as it is not dilettantiful, or obscuraneous.
cheers

I think options in life are good, and I could always use more of them. But I formulated (rigged?) the poll to make my point that people in this forum genuinely appreciate technical discussions.
I don't mind jargon, forum shorthand, and wordplay, as long as it isn't designed to be exclusionary.
When made-up words are used, we can make up our own definitions . . .
dilettantiful: delightful.
obscuraneous: unrecognized.

It's the Rule of Polls.
The guy who creates the poll,
makes the rules.
Words will mean what he says they mean.

So far, I'm only disappointed that the 'nutty' answer is so far behind the 'enjoy' answer.

It may be that it is just a given that you are nuttier than a rum soaked, over cooked fruit cake....
and folks have actually taken you seriously.....for a change.
Just a thought.....I could be wrong.

That's no good. Time for me to post something to discredit myself then. I think I'll pick someone at random and go off on them about nothing in particular.
I love forums!

...yea, that could work.
I would volunteer to be the random person.....
but I would just take it in stride....oh, that nutty JNK is at it again.....
so I might not be the best choice.
But, I'm here for ya'.
Just remember, you will need to have your obligatory apology post ready.
Hope this helps.
