Re: Tell me your power outtage backup plans

I would like to add one thing for those who use a battery as backup. I saw someone said they have fuses inline on the batter on one wire. I would recommed having a fuse inline on both the positive and negative on both ends. That will prevent a fire if any short does occur. I have seen shorts that occured in weird ways that would have been prevented if each line was fused or each line fused at each end.
I was told to do this by an old timer when I got my amateur radio license and installed a radio in my car. It wasn't explained to me why I should do this, I was just told to do it. A few years later I remembered this when I was investigating a car fire and was standing there with four other investigators scratching my head. We kept going back to what else can it be besides an intentionally set fire by the owner. This old lesson hit me and I traced it out and showed everyone else and we all agreed it was accidental and also that if it was installed the way that old timer had told me, their would have been no way it could have started a fire.
Yes, it may be a pain to add three more fuses, but you may save your own life or property from burning down.
