I have 4 episodes on Tivo and haven't had a chance to watch them all yet. The first episode scene with the CPAP is cut very poorly. It's a Resmed S8 series but can't tell which model from the scene. Also it goes from one shot with the humidifier attached and another shot a few seconds later, with no humidifier and if I remember correctly no hose attached. Then a few shots later the humidifier is back on..... Boy he must be quick...lol.

I think the show gets better as the episodes mature - the actors get better and the material gets better. So, don't stop at the first episode : )

I haven't followed the show since episode 1. I am delighted that they've apparently shown Owen using the machine. Enjoying this thread immensely.

1. I'm guessing that a producer (or someone else high in the food chain...) has been fairly recently diagnosed and is an avid fan of CPAP. (Maybe the actor himself, based on the physical description given!)

2. I really like that they are apparently not making it a big deal...just a part of the character's life.

3. Anyone know what percentage of the general public is on xPAP therapy?

LinkC, #3 peaked my curiosity. I didn't find how many are on XPAP therapy, but did find this by the NIH "I found An estimated 18 million Americans have sleep apnea. However, few of them have had the problem diagnosed." http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/brai ... leep_Apnea

I always find this kind of statement interesting if not a bit suspect. This large number is probably the result of taking a number of the population and then what percentage of them have apnea, then apply that percentage to the US population. A bit merky at best. Still, interesting.

No, but I can get a gestimate based upon the numbers:

- US Population: 305,000,000
- Sleep Apnea (5 to 7.5% of population): 15,000,000 - 23,000,000*
- % Diagnosed w/treatment (5%): 750,00**

* Conservative numbers
** Probably larger than the actual numbers (full compliance & better health < diagnosed & no better / same)

After reading this thread, I recorded last Monday's show on the DVR and finally got around to watching it this afternoon. Did anyone notice that scene about 17 minutes into the show where Andre Braugher is sitting at a PC? If you freeze the frames on the DVR and look closely, you can see he is browsing cpaptalk.com and has stopped at Rested Gal's post on data-capable machines (viewtopic.php?p=307168#p307168). Maybe we will see him downloading his card tonight.

Are you kidding us?!! Rested Gal on TV? I haven't watched that episode, yet. That would be awesome. I can't wait to see it.

I don't believe anyone has any idea. Any guess would have to be based on estimations based on other estimations based on guesses based on polling and follow-up that has never occurred.

My answer would be: "Not enough. Not nearly enough."

My wife has better eyesight than me, so she took a look at it. She said I am wrong - Andre is just looking at what all men look at on the internet - more like Raunchy Gal instead of our Rested Gal.
