Yes, I am definitely willing to back off, if he wants to back off as well, that would be great. If not, I will just continue to post, and be as polite as possible. That is all I can do. I'd rather have a peace offering now, so let's see.



By the way, my experiment with cpap vs apap didn't go well--the third straight night that my AHI was over 3, with titration pressure (11) on my autopap set as cpap. My AHI is normally .8 to 1.3 or so--I am going back to autopap set at 8.5-13.5. So, different strokes for different folks. MY average pressure on autopap is between 8 and 10 at the 90-95% level.

I don't think we need to be in any hurry to make changes. It takes a while to see if results of changes are consistent, and we're probably going to be using CPAP for the rest of our lives so (hopefully) there's plenty of time for experimentation. Someday, it'd be interesting to see if your results (the "numbers" and how you feel) would be any different for you at 9, or even 8 or 7.

Tonight we have a house guest, and he had his Elite II in his suitcase. I asked him if he had a data card, or checks the LED data. Turns out it's not Smart Card enabled....well, I fixed that!

So, did your house guest get to see his results in the software today? If so, I bet he will be using that at home now! How nice that he has someone to show him the ropes hands-on!

jnk, I have come to the conclusion that this is, infact, not rocket science.
I administer and monitor my own therapy....with pretty basic knowledge.

I'm sure that there are many fine papers out there that can support any
conclusion that any one person chooses to champion.
I appreciate SWS' and everyones contributions to this forum.
I learned my lesson awhile ago from BBolton concerning "most, always, everybody....etc."

For me, though, if I'm going to raise a torch for the cause of the need for DMEs (1) to provide the right machines and (2) to have better education of patients, I feel a personal responsibility to do everything I can (1) to collect the pertitent information about the machines myself and (2) to educate myself as patient on the details of the matters I expect the DMEs to know.

So, in my opinion, it might be good if we at least had printouts of those links in our back pockets so that at least we'll have something to hand our lawyers for them to give to the press, so my family will understand exactly why I'm on TV in cuffs again.

Well, in hindsight, I'm thinking maybe it would have been better if I'd had a rearview mirror to help me look ahead to the details.

Yes, he found his data card in his Resmed bag, so we downloaded all his data onto my laptop. He was fascinated. We discovered his monthly average AHI has been around 5, but in the past few days, the leaks are way up, and his AHI last night was 15. He realized that he is getting a leak from the elbow of his mask, and is going to replace it asap. He's also got a shopping list now--papcap, heated hose, card reader, software. It was fun to help him.
