they're still lying to you. You can't have mailing reimbursed by insurance. The white filter is the cheaper of the two. Just a note: If your a non smoker, the white filter is not necessary.

I had to jump in here! I have the SAME machine you do and I just bought a six pack from a brick and morter here in town.
These are the exact same ones CPAP.com sells. 6 for 19.00 here! That is 3.16 each. I didn't go thru our host this time because if I added on shipping it would have been more. I usually order from CPAP.com when I have a bigger order. I think they are $13 on our hosts site. You really got RIPPED!
I got one from my dme a while back and I ONLY got 1 also, that is when I said never again with them. I am not sure of what they billed my Ins. When I called to order it, they said 1 a month. The place where I purchased my 6 pack said you are allowed 2 a month. I was PO'd and asked how much would I have to pay if I payed out of pocket. He figured it up and it was 3.16 for 1, I said give me the whole pack. If I don't use the white ones my eyes look like I have been beaten with a baseball bat.

I think the lady who said she would charge another $12 for a "point of service" charge was VERY confused, since "point of service" is a type of insurance plan. The insurance company said that when they get the new bill they'll pay $13 toward the $58, and I assume the DME knows that and overcharges on purpose.

And people on another thread are getting upset with me because I don't see any good coming out of health care reform. Fix greed problems like this, and out health care problems will practically disappear overnight.

Health care providers realize that health care is non-optional when you need it, and figure that most people would sell their soul to be healthy. Furthermore, there are a lot of people who think their doctor/health care provider is one step below God, and never question a thing they say. (I remember one thread here where there was a woman who would not adjust the straps on her mask because she thought that only an RT was qualified to do that!) The net result is that few people would ever question the $58 charge, thinking, 'That filter is pretty high tech, and so it must be expensive'. There seem to be few of 'us' around that some are genuinely shocked when their unabashed greed is questioned.

All I can say about people who take advantage of sick people to make a lot of money is 'their money perish with them'.

When I lived in Rochester, NY, I occasionally serviced some Kodak slide projectors in a museum exhibit that led a very hard life. Since Kodak is in Rochester, and they do have a 'will call' parts counter, I thought could avoid shipping charges on ordering parts because it hardly pays to have items shipped across town. So, I went to the 'will call' counter to pick up the parts I needed. I slapped with an additional charge ($6 or 12 if I recall) as a 'local pickup charge'. I argued with the counter people how incredibly stupid that was. I lost in the end, but they did reduce the charge. (I used mail order from then on ) I think theis DME was trying to pull the same stunt.

The longest judgement given in the book of Revelation is the judgement on greed. I wonder why?
