This topic seems to be not active from about a year.

I bought ACR38U-SPC-R from a local dealer, and I downloaded ResScan 3.7, I cut a holder to fit I could not make it work after trials of many things here. I have followings;

- My compter is a desktop computer which Windows XP SP3 (32bit) loaded.
- It does not have any wireless network installed (as default where no wireless device attached ever)
- The device LED responds to the card when inserted (a long green, then turning to flashing after about 5-6 seconds.
- ResScan worked but unable to load data. It does not recognize the card readers wih following cases.
- I first installed dealers driver first, it was CCID USB Driver 1.1.6.4 -> Does not work, uninstalled
- I read this forum and after reading I believed that I have to get rid of the "CCID" thing from the driver.
- Tried to install driver provided with ResScan -> Windows does not recognize any drivers, it is searching "CCID drivers" by the wizard.
- Downloaded 1.1.2.0 from ACS Site (MSI installation), the installed version is still CCID USB Driver -> Does not work, uninstalled (using /X option)
- I have googled for ARC38 driver version 1.1.6.1 (as mentioned 1.1.6.4 is a CCID driver), but no evident sign for the 1.1.6.1, just an X64 version of it.
- Finally I decided to write a comment here since I decided that I need more help.

You need to buy the PC/SC version of the ACR38 card reader. The CCID version which you apparently have will not be recognized by ResScan. See this thread for more info, someone recently found a seller on ebay who is able to obtain the harder to find PC/SC version.

I bought a Targus High SpeedSD/SDHCMMC MIcro SD /T-F card reader/Writer. It costs $8.00 and I found it at Walmart and have been using it for close to a month. It works great. The card just slides in perfectly and fits exactly.

This discussion is about card readers for S8 ResScan cards (smartcards) not about the S9 SD cards.

Cheers,

Hi all.. I asked this very question a while back and am still confused about it..LOL. I am wondering if this card reader would work with my machine as well? I know that I would have to make the guide for the card to fit properly..right? Thanks SO Much!!! Terri
