A Dutch apnea forum is asking the same thing too -- unfortunately I can't figure out what they are saying about it.

That thread has a picture of a card adapter

Another Dutch thread
http://www.apneuvereniging.nl/forum/vie ... c61511ed5b
ACR38C-type SPC-R is wrong:
"With me on the back of the Card Reader ACR38C-type SPC-R indicated. Een ander/verkeerd type dus........ Another / wrong type so ......"
I saw an interesting signature on that forum:
Original Dutch text:
Apneu is niet echt fascinerend, slechts adembenemend.
Google translation:
Apnea is not really fascinating, just breathtaking.

Just wanted to provide some feedback; I ordered the ResMed reader from the link indicated:
http://www.smartcardsupply.com/Content/ ... /ACR38.htm. I received the ACR38C-SPC-R (which I couldn't get working) -- need the U vs C model. Based on this thread I contacted the supplier (iqbio.net) via email and they instantly (literally) responded with "We will send out one of the U models today along with a return ticket for you to send to C unit back to our office."
I don't see anything on the part # I ordered which indicates C vs U model, but kudos to them (based on this response) for offering to replace it with the right unit.
So I guess we'll see what happens. If you're looking for this reader, I'd suggest emailing or calling them to make sure you get the U model. But so far good customer service.

Self evidently not!
As I stated, had you read thoroughly, I searched the forums before asking the question. From your lofty perch, it may be obvious whose posts are authoritative and whose aren't. Unfortunately, there are conflicting posts scattered across various threads regarding which reader is the right one, making it difficult to determine which one is correct, even with thorough reading.
Was this not sufficient effort? Should I have designed, built and marketed my own smart card reader, perhaps?
In the future, please forgive my lack of omniscience. Your shining example is clearly something to which we should all aspire.

Easy, Cavallo. Bill Bolton is a respected and well-liked member of this forum. I'm sorry to see the two of you have gotten off on the wrong foot.

What are the disadvantages with the USB port adapter ResMed makes?
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... chine.html
You could buy a wireless USB extender to plug into it and have a pretty nice method of gathering info wireless for around $100 + the software.
I just hate card readers.

I was just looking into this option! I've only found the Wireless USB extenders for about $100 though; that plus the USB adapter makes it quite expensive. Are you aware of any inexpensive USB extenders?

Please let us know if you encounter any driver issues with the ResScan software and the wireless USB device.

I had some difficulty installing the drivers for the ACR38U-SPC-R on one of my PCs under Windows XP. Same problem with the drivers which come with ResScan. A problem has been identified with wireless networking adapters, which isn't applicable in my case. After somehow getting the card reader to work, after a week or so it quit and I had a great deal of trouble getting the drivers installed again without locking up my PC. Here's what worked: Remove the drivers, which is an option in the driver installation program. Reboot and start Windows in Safe mode and install the drivers. Restart the PC in normal mode and plug in the card reader after boot-up is complete. Do NOT remove the card reader's USB connection and start the PC as that may corrupt the driver installation. In other words, give the card reader a permanent connection, even if it is used intermittently.

I have an ACR38U-SPC-R "PC-Linked Smart Card Reader" that I am trying to use with ResScan 3.7 under Windows XP. I had installed, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver several times without ResScan ever being able to communicate with the reader when I saw your post. I did as you suggested, uninstalled the driver, rebooted in Save Mode, installed the driver, rebooted in Normal Mode, reconnected the reader, and ResScan still doesn't communicate with the reader.
Is your ACR38 reader listed as available if you click the Settings icon in the ResScan toolbar and then click the Select Device button? My devices list has four entries that each show "No Device."
Has anyone else with this problem found a solution?
