First I have to say thanks for such a warm welcome.
its not everyday one runs into such nice, and helpful people.
Yes, its already to go :
with all of the help I have gotten already, just reading here... I was teaching the girl setting me up.
She had never heard of these furums. She knows now.
Any ways...Thanks to everyone one this site and running it. I feel prepared to go into this with a good attitude. And the knowledge that it might take a while, but I will master it.
night

And I am using my new equipment. For the first time.
wish me luck
Sleep well tree.
thewetlizard wrote:I didn't get a choice. I did my sleep study through the V.A. When I went back to get the results, the V.A. gave the group I was in the same machine showed us how to use it and off we went.
What is the VA issuing nowadays? I got my antique (10yo ResMed Autoset T) from the VA in Durham, NC (best VA in the world IMO). From what I've heard in here, it's better than any of the junk DME's are pushing nowadays.

hi! Well I made it thru my first night doing pretty good. (I think so at least)
THe machine says I slept 7.5 hrs. I do know it was broken up some..but not bunches.
No rain out. No panic attacks. (did not expect one )
I did make the mistake of using the paper tape on my cheeks and forhead. Won't do that again. I took off skin, when I peeled it off. Och!!!
I have extreamly sentive skin. That was why I thought to try tape. Ended Up using the Mole foam.
I Love it.
anyways, I wondered if I make changes to the read out part...can I get in trouble?
The way its set up, I can not see how many occurances I had. just time on the machine.
I did get a copy of the manual to change it, from Jerry. But was nervouse to do so.
thanks for so much help here. Everyone one is great.

Congratulations on your first night! I think you mean, you want the display to show average leak and average AHI? Go ahead and change it. I can't imagine anyone give you too hard a time
People have done more than change their display readout and survived the experience. I'll let you browse the forum and make your own decisions or ask questions. The averages on your display are not as good as seeing individual night detail via card reader and software, but it's certainly better than seeing nothing at all. I was set up the same way you were. I also eventually tweaked my pressure slightly. I have had discussions with my caregiver(s) about having changing pressure, but no one has yet blinked about the machine display.

day 2
Last night I tried the mask with no tape, foam or any other things to make it fit.
Guess I did not need them. The mask fits me beautiful. I slept well.
Hubby came into the room to check me. He said He could not here any of the Noises we both expected. And NO snoring
He said he did not hear anything! I plan to set this up in my regular bed room with in the next week or two. Yeah!!!
The machine says I slept about 9 hrs. Wow. I feel good. Still sorta tired. But not extream like usual.
My sinuses feel much better. And did NOT wake with a head ache.
Might take a small nap later this morning. Who knows, Might not.
Its funny...I can not wait till bed time now.

'tree, no you can't "get in trouble."
This is
your therapy.
Keep asking questions.
When you're ready, dive into that manual and take charge.
YOU become your own best therapist.

For many 'papers, it may take weeks or months....sometimes never...
to feel like that. You're on day two.
It is a wonderful feeling.......I'm addicted to that feeling.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the great answers, everyone.
I felt so good last night, I went back for a 1 hr nap this morning. I have to say, I feel good.
I will get into to the manual, soon. Right now. I am just going to keep up, keeping up. Learning as I go.
For example. I leaned that hanging my mask and hose on a hanger, from the curtain rod is tooo cold.
My mask was fogging up? Well yeah! It was cold. Got that fixed fast.
I am going to the hard ware store with hubby. see what neat things I can find there.
later

thanks ladies.
I went out to buy an elbow for the hose. It was the wrong one...hubby had one in his tool box.
I go to the garage to shop all the time.
I realize that I won't always feel this excited about sleeping...but for now. Its fun going to bed, to sleep.

I feel the same way! I didn't before CPAP.
I just wanted to welcome you to the forum, Theresa. As you said, there are a lot of very nice and helpful people here -- people who have gone through the same things you have with sleep apnea.
I'm glad that you found a well-fitting mask, as that's so important. And it looks like you got a great machine too.
With your wonderful sense of humor and great attitude I know you'll do well!
