Kira,
I'm so sorry for your loss. May I can grieve along side? I lost my mother almost 30 years ago. While I don't think about her passing as often any more, it still hurts.

Pink lights and prayers.....for mom in her pain free sable-haired romp with the 4-legged companions, and for those left missing her as well as celebrating her full life.....
I just caught up to this news....I am humbled to share this quiet moment with you.....

I believe my Dad had sleep apnea and was too much of a man to do anything.
He passed away June 17th and I'm still feeling it....
**
This is basically what I tried to choke out # : ) at the funeral:
"We only die once, but for such a long time."
I was expecting grief - but not guilt.
I thought I had forever
But I only have today
Jeff and the kids are probably wondering 'When is Mommy gonna stop crying?'
****
REGRETS
Will you know I loved you
Will you feel it true
Were my words confirming
and my actions speaking, too?
Did I say ‘I Love You’
and hold you dear enough
or was I really busy
being right and acting tough?
I think about my daughter and
look over at my son
How many regrets
How many missed hugs
When all is said and done

*****
(dedication for Mom - been with Dad for 51 years)
I see you smiling, see you talk
How memories still adore
I ache to hold you once again
Oh, walk through my front door
I’ve said good-bye a thousand times
and still I see you leaving
I hold you in my dreams at night
and spend my days still grieving
At night I look towards the sky
as moon glows on my face
and whisper to you, ‘Good night, Dad.’
........up in His special place

DESTINATIONS
I haven't learned much about death, my dear friend
If you're the one left, you ponder this end
I know when we're born, we're scheduled to die
to go to the ground
or go to the sky.............
But maybe you could be
the seed in every grain
What if you become
the drop in tears or rain
Will that be your eyes blinking
in every star I see
And if that's so, then you're the moon
beam rays above the sea
Can that be your scent
in every single rose
That must be you coloring
horizons and rainbows
That will be you smiling
when lightening strikes the sky
And if you hear a thunder
I'm applauding you close by
Beverly Steward 6/12/04
I'M NOT READY
I'm not ready to say Good Bye
But if you are, I will
I'm not ready
to see you cry
And wait beyond the still......
I'm not ready to just let go
I'm barely hanging on
I'm not ready to fall to Earth
If you can't come along
I will see you soon, Dad
Where the clouds may kiss the blue
and greet you laughing once again
My joking brown eyed you
-Bev

Kira - Please allow me to add my condolences. As I said in my earlier post, I truly can relate to what you have been going through. No matter how prepared we think we are, it is never enough. Just take peace in knowing that she is in a better place, and that you did everything in your power to make her last days as good as possible.
Again, I am truly sorry for you loss.

Kira,
I've been off the forum for a little while and have just now read of your loss. My heart goes out to you and to Dad.
When my Mom passed away almost five years ago, Dad was devastated. 51 years of marriage left him unprepared to face the world alone again. We urged him not to do anything rash for one year. One year to the day after we lost Mom, Dad came west and put an offer on a house a few blocks away from us. He has learned to enjoy life again.
I think back about Mom and her father, my grandfather. Both were notorious snorers with a habit of afternoon napping. It has lead me to think. But not too much.
Be well,
Clark

Kira -- So sorry to hear of your loss. My mother died unexpectedly when I was 8 and I think of her so often. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and her obituary -- she was an active woman who raised a very wise and strong daughter! When a friend died a few years back, I received a card that read: Mourn the loss but celebrate the life. I hope you found the perfect duck and you and your family had a grand feast in celebration of her life. Take care.
