Any suggestions?

Hi Jirel

I know that it is tough when you have multiple disabilities, but untreated sleep apnea can exacerbate, or cause, other problems. It sounds like you need a local support network; as well as cpaptalk. If you have a concern about your weight, then I would suggest checking out Overeaters Anonymous. It will probably take a few meetings to get to know people there, and find the support you need.

I notice you have a cat as your Avatar. You need look after yourself so that you can look after them. No matter what goes wrong with me, my cats are there for me, and I have to be there for them. Giving up on life may, I repeat may, solve my problems, but it will not be good for them.

There are a lot of good suggestions above, you have nothing to lose by trying them out.

Finally, there may be something for you in an old post of mine -

Autopapdude wrote:I would let your make any such decision in terms of cessation of sleep therapy. Unless someone is a doctor on this board, it would be irresponsible and probably illegal to make any sort of consultation in terms of telling someone not to use a Cpap any more. That is a decision that can only be made in consultation with medical professionals after serious consideration. I'd reiterate that a pressure of 4 probably isn't doing anything, but please let a doctor make the decision about your condition, not some layperson's opinion.
It sounds like his "qualified PHYSICIAN", doesn't have a clue about his treatment, and maybe no-one does. Jim

I would just like to add or reiterate that ineffective cpap treatment can leave one feeling absolutely horrid, to where it feels like life has nothing else to offer us and we have nothing else to offer life. Finding it within yourself to get this one thing figured out could be a turning point for you. While I did not want to end my life, it sure felt like it was slipping away. Getting help (on here) to get my cpap treatment figured out gave me hope that just maybe it wasn't too late to turn things around. I had no idea how much I had been affected by first no treatment then poor treatment until I began to experience the difference. It didn't cure my arthritis or my lungs or some other health issues, but those things sure began to look and feel different. Hopefully in the not too distant future you'll be able to say the same.

Very true, my husband's shrapnel is still there and he has a hard time walking, he still has an enlarged heart which makes him short of breath, but the improvement in his quality of sleep gave him a new attitude and has made all this easier to deal with. I wish you luck and stay involved here. Dori
