Thanks, Goose. I am really content with my numbers right now, so I don't really want to change anything at the moment. For the most part I get 0.0 AI with a max of 0.2 (so far) and my HI is rarely above 2.5, usually below 2.0. With those numbers, and the face I'm feeling so good: if it ain't broke...

Hear that!!!!
HI's are what kill my numbers. AI's are usually around zero, but Hi's add it up....and they appear to happen in clusters....Perhaps I need to re-visit the neurologist.....(My original neurologist retired to have a family, so I'm starting fresh with a new one......)
With those numbers I don't think I'd do any messing around either......
cheers

I'm sure that if you register and post your equipment, that there is someone around that can help......

Occasionally, I get bouts of aerophagia. Not quite sure why, but they sure are painful. I think it has to do it I eat too much for dinner (not necessarily too close to bedtime), or that certain foods sit in my stomach longer. Maybe it's acid reflux opening the LES... maybe I'm just loony.
Today, it's almost like the skin on my stomach is tender (maybe the muscles, too). Anybody else who gets aerophagia experience that?

I get it some nights but it really hasn't bothered me much (touch wood). It just passes through me, as my wife has pointed out.

I consider that "drug free". Congratulations!

I had horrible aerophagia that lasted all day before I switched to auto pap. My cpap pressure was 14, I am at 10.5 to 18 on apap but my average is 10.5.
Strangely, in the last couple of weeks I have had 2 nights where I woke with aerophagia. I checked my numbers and they were normal. The only difference was one night I can remember I did not eat dinner. I cannot remember if I ate dinner the first night I had it or not. Empty stomach leaves more room for air?

Tat- Sounds like you may have been having some of the same issues that I am having. I was titrated (2 yrs. ago) at 12cm and did okay for a few months and then the AEROPHAGIA started and I was very miserable. Eventually got an APAP machine and did okay on that for awhile but didn't feel rested anymore and went back to cpap. I set my system at 11.0 and still suffered horrible gas and so much bloating in the a.m. that I couldn't eat breakfast. Now I am using my cpap at 10.0 cm and my numbers are usually around 1.3 or less, but I still feel unrested. I am beginning to think that the low setting is not working for me. At the time I was titrated I was on 20mg of Prozac a day, am not on that anymore although I am beginning to think I may need it again. I suffer from mild/moderate depression and anxiety also, I also way taking a very low dose of Xanax at that time too(not anymore).
My oldest daughter was DX'd with celiacs disease about 5 yrs. ago with the endoscopy and is doing fairly well. I thought that maybe my intestinal problems might be related to celiacs also and had a blood test which the doc said was normal. I'm wondering if some of my "gas" issues might be caused by undiagnosed celiacs along with the cpap pressure.
After reading your post I am considering going back to a little higher pressure with the EPR 1 and starting to elminate gluten. It's hard to do but I may be very glad I did. I have been told and witnessed through my daughter that celiacs disease can cause depression and some types of anxiety-so maybe your new diet might help that situation a little too.
Please let me know if you have any advice or comments on this- I am desperate for some relief with fatique and depression as well as the "gas". BTW- the same doc that did the blood test also dx'd me with IBS about 20 yrs. ago. Makes me wonder if there is something he MISSED!!! Thanks-GG

Great numbers, Congrats on dialing in your therapy so well Kenny.

Maybe so, I seem to remember eating a bit more for dinner (or something that was a bit heavier than usual), which caused mine. It happens rarely, so I'm thankful.

I have been gluten free for about 2-3 months now and definitely feel a positive difference. My endoscopy came out negative for celiac, but I'm 99.9% positive I have a gluten intolerance, which is similar but separate from celiac. Unfortunately, when I do have an apnea it tends to snap shut without any snores or flow limitation, so the A10 algorithm on my S8 Autoset II won't respond to it since I'm above 10 cm of pressure. Bummer.
Anyhow, the tenderness is nearly gone now, so I'm sure it was just from the bloating. Thanks for the responses everyone!

Its amazing how just a few tenths of a centimeter pressure can make a big difference in other factors.
Also......even if your celiac tests are negative, you could still have lots of problems with gluten. Docs seem to think you shouldn't have a problem eating gluten, if your tests are normal. But I know people who tested negative, but feel a whole lot better avoiding gluten.
Continued good luck to you!

For a long while I have been using my machine at 14.6 cm (min) w/EPR at 1, but the aerophagia/insufflation comes and goes. If I'm consipated, FORGETTABOUTIT! Bad bloating when on APAP.
Recently, I had turned my pressure down just a bit to 14.2 cm (min) w/EPR off and was getting okay results.
The last few days, I have been doing an experiment whereby I raised my pressure from 14.4 w/EPR off to 15.8 w/EPR at 2, hoping that would help my aerophagia that creeped back up. So far, it's not going so well. I think I'm getting more aerophagia. My numbers are still good (AI is about 0.2 and AHI is around 2.4). I'll give it a couple more days before I go back to where I was.
My ultimate hope is that if I lose enough weight, I'll be able to turn my pressure down to something that won't cause so much bloating.

My understanding is that those blood tests are pretty accurate. If you want to be 100% sure you need endoscopy with biopsies, but you can't be on a gluten-free diet when you do testing.

Hi folks, my aerophagia saga continues. The past few days I've been sick (much better now) with a cold, and my machine surprised me by raising my pressure, something it never does. I'm glad it did in most respect. My 95% pressure was 15.4 for the past few nights. Two nights ago, I awoke with excruciating pain in my lower gut. It turned out to be gas, but it was so bad that I was thinking of going to the hospital if it didn't go away (it did). Last night, with a normal pressure of 14.8, no pain.
However, my gut is still very tender in that same spot; slightly below and to the right of the navel (ileosecal valve?). Is it possible that some damaged happened in there or would I be in excruciating pain?
