Majority of my AHI is caused by HI, the past 2 weeks my AI is 0.0 & one night 0.2, majority of the time 0.0,. Have no idea, what is causing HI's ?

jnk wrote:I guess it depends on how you massage the "statistics" at this point in the poll, since almost half of the participating ResMed users (11 of 23) have home-machine-estimated AHIs 3 or above compared to about a tenth (3 out of 29) of participating non-ResMed users having AHIs 3 or above. Nearly a third of ResMed users (7 out of 23), so far, have AHIs 5 or above; whereas, only 1 out of 29 non-ResMed users has an AHI 5 or above.
You keep trying to drive home a point no one is arguing, that ResMed have higher AHi's than non-ResMed users. We know that. Let it go. The basis for the second poll was to show the first poll was valid (within 0.5 AHI) for
all users. And it is, as shown by "unmessaged" statistics, i.e, the mean. The math is there for anyone to see.

My point is that ResMed newbies should not be disturbed by their own home-machine-estimated AHI numbers when others attempt to compare home-machine-estimated AHI numbers across multiple brands.
I am likely to make the point again.
Sorry.

To further illustrate the value of AHI numbers and particularly their comparison across manufacturers, my experience has been:
Resperionics M-Series w/A-Flex AHI Avg = Less than 1 (Feel significantly improved)
DevilBiss Intellipap AHI Avg = Less than 1 (Felt like C*** & no therapy provided)

Results of Polls:
All Users - AHI avg 3.5 (99 samples)
Non-ResMed - AHI avg 1.3 (41 samples)
ResMed - AHI avg 3.67 (35 samples)
RedMed - AHI avg 5.24 (35 samples)
The difference between the last two polls was the second ResMed poll provided for a higher range of values as many users score beyond the 10.0 limit of the first ResMed poll.

This has been useful. Made me look at my recent stats a little closer. My AHI numbers are running 1 to 3 (responded 2-3 on poll). My APAP pressures are between 8 and 14, but nearly 80% of the apneas are at pressure of 8. I think I'll up the minimum pressure to 9 and see what that does.

I'm hoping some African children adopt ME! (As long as their name is Jackson...)

There are all manner of statistical problems associated with taking "averages" from these polls.
A visual look at the distributions reported is more revealing:
The highly discordant distributions between ResMed and Other users are clearly illustrated.
The fairly close distributions of the TOTAL combined data from the machine-specific poll (78 responses),
and the unseparated data from the FIRST poll (99 responses), are reassuring, but uninformative.
Interesting results! Velbor

Velbor,
Thanks for posting the chart. It certainly does give a better depiction than the mean AHI.
