From a reliable source at PR today, I was told they are definitely working on a patient version for the new PR machines. It is really hard to reach anybody by phone at PR... but if you play the game right, and stay on hold long enough... it will pay off.

So they have no idea of when it will come out... but they confirmed (several times for me) that it is being worked on.

That is great news. Another reason I believe this is true... when they updated the website with the official PR launch, they didn't remove any reference to Encore Viewer.

So PR owners (and everyone else) keep asking about it... so they know the interest/demand is there. But I truly believe it is coming.

Certainly good news! Please keep us posted on any updates you find!

I asked, but the guy I talked to at Respironics did not know/tell when the software would be out. Apparently Guest has the inside scoop that software may be available in Spring of 2012.

Guest, all 14 of us "anal-retentive" CPAP users operate from the assumption that no one cares more about improving our health than we do, and that no one will sink more time or energy into improving our lives than we will. And for the record, we don't all snore!!

My wife's sister's mother-in-law's nephew knows a guy that he works with,
heard his neighbor tell the mail man that the new patient software for
the new PR system was for sure coming out in the fall of 2014,
he believes.

This is fun.
Let's start a pool for the actual release date.

Disgusting if Respironics is going to provide only crippled software to users, rather than the detailed reporting this new machine would support. But, perhaps they are following the lead of Resmed, which also seems to be taking away rather than giving more in this area--witness the recall of the Reslink from venders, etc. I remember a few years back, when I tried to get information from Respironics on the capabilities and antics of my father's Respironics APAP and software, the Respironics technician acted like I was a criminal or something for daring to want actual data (we switched my father to the PB 420E, the same model I was using, which did come with capable software--Silverlining 3, not perfect, but probably still the best available).

A lot of good that will do!!!! Everyone knows that the world will come to an end in December of 2012, the last day of the Mayan Calendar!!!!

However, "we" are not the customer. So they don't want to talk to us. PR wants us to talk to our DME. So you have to be clever responding to the prompts. Then when you get someone, they want your account number (thinking your a provider calling). I have had success telling them my DME told me to call them, because the DME didn't know the answer to my question. So you have to figure out how to play the game... or they won't talk to you. Good luck.

Why don't one of you guys write a detailed manual that Respironics could publish that interprets all of this 'great data' and puts it into patient terms? Think for a minute. You're asking someone to make software that provides a lot of raw data never before seen. You're then asking that this software interpret the results and, in essence, gives medical advice. So, end-users of this software, patients, should be made capable of interpreting their data because, as you continually state, DMEs and sleep docs are useless. Your average AHI, pressure, leak, etc., isn't good enough? Geez.

So you're asking a major billion dollar company to invest time developing a piece of software that would let 0.01% of their end-users asking for it look at their data to such a great degree of detail. This is great, but who is capable of interpreting it? You? Well, that's good for you, but what about the other people? All they'll see is a bunch of data. Currently, people that should be interpreting this stuff like doctors (ResMed models included) are having no problem.

If any patient-focused software comes out before 2012 I'll be surprised.

I haven't read all the responses so I may be repeating. I was at an AWAKE meeting on Wednesday evening. Suppliers attended(Respironics, Resmed, Fischer-Paykel and another one that begins with a "C".) Two of the things that stood out are: 1. Most are now wireless meaning your provider can access your data and change the settings without you bringing in the card. I know this will not be welcome news for those who like to be in charge of their therapy. 2. The new machines are also lighter. Just remember I am just the messenger.

How about just selling us what is already produced. Version 2.1 and not bother to produce the stripped down version.. We already know how to change the pressure so what is the big deal? Besides we are such a small group why should anyone care.

OK! That does it. What we need is our own complete data producing cpap system developed by and sold to cpap customers via cpap.com! Then we wouldn’t be hog tied by these billion dollar companies who aren’t fulfilling the needs of the product users.

Are there some willing entrepreneurs among us with the capital? We’ve surely got the rest of the talent - THE PEOPLE HERE AT cpap.talk WITH THE KNOWLEDGE NECESSARY, and
management, R&D (and we will write that detailed manual to accompany our own brand thank you very much!) medical specialties, hardware and software engineers, lawyers, manufacturing, etc.

Please don’t wake me - this dream is wonderful!

Actually, Respironics has already produced a software for patient use. Encore Viewer was made available by them to patients to give us all that detailed data from M Series Pros and Autos, when Encore Pro became restricted to the RTs and DMEs.

I can only hope they will do at least that again with the PR System 1 machines. After all, they did it once----.

Check it out here: https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/respi ... iflex.html

Another reason for PR to release new software for the patient. We are getting closer! Keep em coming PR!

Here's my progress for the month of October. You will see I was quite sick most of the month, and had worse results. At the end of the month things starting getting real low again. I'm glad October is over!
