Dx AHI of 102 in July 2007 w/ 60% min OS atage of 47 ... also snored loudly since late teens early 20's. I most definitely had brain damage as many forum members here will affirm.

Treated w/ average of 0.4 AHI for last 30+ months and w/ average OS of about 97% thanks to the great forum members.

I can't attest to the brain damage, but your math skills are little off. Dx'd in July of '07 = 25 months of therapy.

Nope. My math is good for some reason ... tis the brain damage ... I meant to write Dx's in July 2006. Good thing it was you that caught the mistake and not the grammer policeman.

I am sorry, I am new to all this....
What does AHI mean?
Also, what is 02?
And how do I find out what mine is?
I am still learning, I have been using CPap since June.
Thanks much

I was a legal secretary for many years, so typo's are rarely an issue for me. But they're much easier to deal with than brain damage.

AHI = Apnea Hypopnea Index ... it is a rate of apneas plus hypopneas divided by sleep time in units of hours.

For example, if you had 5 apneas and 10 hypopneas during a sleep session of 10 hours your AHI would be 1.5.

AI or OI = Apnea Index ... in example above, AI or OI would be 0.5

HI = Hyponea Index ... in example above, HI would be 1.0

O2 refers to Oxygen ... in particular Oxygen saturation as a percentage. Normal O2 saturation of a healthy person is greater than 95%. Below 90% generally would require additional oxygen in a hospital setting. Lack of oxygen is the most serious issue with Sleep Apnea although the sleep care professionals ofen focus on less life threatening issues like snoring and daytime sleepiness. Yes daytime sleepiness can be dangerous when driving but IMO, the frequent desaturation of oxygen (like being water boarded all night long every night for year after year) is a slow hidden danger that destroys health in many ways by disrupting the endocrine system, causing whole body inflamation, cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, and other serioua health conditions.

My job requires that I write in a scripting language where typos are unforgiving. For some reason, they don't seem to be as big a problem as typing on this forum.

I'm not one to track numbers but know that my instances of apnea were around 100 times per hour during first sleep study. My doctor was also concerned with the drop in oxygen levels even with mask and added oxygen concentrator. Has really helped! I got a long tube(50') to connect to hose and leave concentrator in next room so that the noise doesn't bother me or my husband. Not an absolute necessity, but gotta keep all the brain cells I have left!

I was just diagnosed last week. AHI of 103 and rising to 105 during REM sleep. Don't recall what my OS level was but it was pretty low, with a 60% minimum. No wonder I'd wake up with headaches.

Another Intro.

Hi everyone,
I'm also relatively new here. Great forums BTW. Posted once as Apneaguy, but decided to change my name. I've been reading here for a while. I've also been accused of loud snoring and not breathing in my sleep since my 20's. 45 yrs old now. Had a sleep study in April/09 .
RDI / AHI in supine position 130
AHI non supine 55.4
Among other issues.

Using S8 Autoset II.
settings 4-10 cm H2O Auto, EPR=2,
Ultra Mirage II nasal mask.

Average AHI on CPAP approx: 3.5

Cpap seems to be working very well for me, have software and card reader on order so I should be able to track things a bit better than with a simple database and LCD readouts, once they arrive.
See below. Chart at bottom are more recent readouts from LCD in Autoset II.

You guys got off easy.

I slur my spelling and grammar so bad (badly?) that some forums now make me pass an online breathalyzer test before they even let me post.
