Laurie,
There are no "properties" for file and printer sharing.....it's either checked (on) or not checked (off).

Laurie,
Perhaps the justification would be the bottom line on their financial statement if they had to provide support to the layman and pay employees to serve in that function.
Bingo! Usually, if you want to know why a corporation does something a certain way, just
follow the money
Look at what they charge for the software, $199! Seems a bit high to me for what should be a pretty simple program. But, since you are limited to buying the software
from them, they can pretty much ask what they want.

just never ever accidentally delete the SQL server which does show up as an intruder on some spyware filter software.
I did the unthinkable and accidently deleted- or rather uninstalled- the SQL server program off my 2000pro laptop while I was cleaning it up to run Partition Magic. It wasn't until much later and after running every clean up program I have and reformatting over half my hard drive that I realized what I did. I panic for half a day or so until I remembered I had exported my data to try to read on my desktop....I just had to hope I could find it- remember how delete key happy I had been the day before. Found the exported data in the one folder I hadn't cleaned out luckily and after a big sigh of relief I set off to reinstall from the Encore Pro CD...it recognized Encore was okay and just reinstalled the SQL program. Much to my amazement all my data was still there when I opened Encore Pro..you just know if I hadn't had the backup the data would have been gone....
I still haven't gotten Encore to run on my XP home desktop...I've tried a couple of times but not too hard since my laptop also has the serial port I need to connect my Synchrony to and my desk top doesn't.

Thanks to everyone for trying to help me with this. I've tried everything you suggested and none of it worked. I'm still getting Error Number: "0". My hubby says he'll try and figure this out on the week-end so I guess I'll just wait until then.
Thanks! Amy

I am having the same problem with the My Encore running off Windows XP. My computer geek son has been trying to get it to run for over an hour. We have tried the fixes on this thread and are getting error saying unable to access Encore Pro Database, My encore will close, Index #0, Message: SqL Server does not exist or access is denied, Line number 0, Source: .NetSql Client Data Provider, Procedure: Connection open (Connect ()). I have given up for tonight. At least I can run Encore Pro. For that I am truly grateful. Thanks all for your help!
