Well, I am glad it is fixed. I wasn't about to delete all my cookies. I was prepared to never be able to post again. LOL

I the version of Firefox I had listed before was 3.0.12. I have just updated the post to also show the directions for 3.5.1.

I followed your procedure for FF 3.5.1 ...
I deleted the cookies for both cpap.com and cpaptalk.com.
It didn't change a thing.
I can still log on as before with the changes that I had made before ...
But your "fix" will not "save" the log on, so I still have to log on each time I want to post anything.
Please advise ...

Firefox users: You do not need to delete all cookies, only the cpaptalk.com cookie. This can be accomplished using the
Tools-Page Info-Security-View Cookies-Clear
option. Then close the browser, open it back up and login. Go to
Tools-Options-Privacy-Exceptions
and add "
www.cpaptalk.com" to the address bar. This will enable you to return to cpaptalk.com without having to re-enter your login info.

Its not "
block", its "
allow", if you want to be able to omit the login step.

I'm running IE 8. I went into my cookies folder and delted everything that had the word "cpap" in it. Still couldn't log in. That was as far as I was willing to go.

You need to tell what it is you are doing AND the exact error message.

It's fixed now. I was doing what everyone else was doing. Logging in, only to be kicked back out into logged out mode. There were no error messages.

I've cleared all my cookies and still have a problem. Keeps telling me I need a password. Them when I post here with my user name (ROBERTA) it tells me that name is already in use and to select an alternative.

Gadzooks!!! What a PIA!!!!!!!! Majorly PIA!!!!!!!
I use Mozilla Firefox 5.0 for Wincrap .....(though the Linux (Ubuntu) version acted the same so it was a major foo-paw!!!!! )
Did the Tools-Page Info-Security-show cookies-clear a few times with no luck. (restarted the browser and lo and behold all the cookies were still there for the page!!!! What's with that??)
I then did the "remove cookie" for each cookie.
I closed the tab for cpaptalk.com, then restarted the browser. Looked for the cookies again, and there were, like 4 that I would expect, not the 20 or so that were there prior)
After re-starting the browser one more time (just to be sure) and checking the cookies again, I opened a blank tab and went to cpaptalk.com, logged in and it didn't immediately log me out this time -- and it also had my LogID and PW saved and pre-filled as it should.....just checked the log me every time box and viola -- I'm logged in again.
It's a very big hassle to delete all cookies for one site!!!!!! There's a reason most of us keep cookies and to remove them all causes major grief!!!!! Thankfully, the remove only this pages cookies worked!!!!!

You will need a password to login and post as a username. If you wish to post as a guest then you will need to put in a captcha code each time you post, captcha code are meant to prevent spam post. Posting as Roberta will require you to login as that username and the correct password that belongs to that username. If you are the owner of that username then you can reset you password by going here:

It's really a nuisance to have to sign on every time I want to post something in the forum!
I don't know what the webmaster did ... but I really wish that she would un-do it.
I followed all of the instructions given earlier by Carolyn ... but to no avail.
Or am I still the only person that cannot have the "remember" function work when I log on each time?

I haven't been logged out since I fixed the cookie issue.
Each time I access cpaptalk.com it logs me in -- I checked the box that says to do that.....

I'm expecting this fix that we did and the requirement to clear the cookie is an essential step to make the login works correctly. This fix was meant for those who try to login and got kicked out after their initial attempt. Furthermore if you haven't notice the "1 item still remaining.." is fixed also.
Just some friendly facts, IE is very insecure(a lot of security holes) however it renders webpage nice. Use it on TRUSTED sites only.. anything beyond is not recommended. Your pc can be filled with spyware or trojan just by going to a site without having to install any activex plugin. Cookies are nice however they store your personal information, a lot of these cookies are placed by advertisement site (the ads banners) and keep track of the sites you go to. You should clear your cache( as the temporary internet files can get large and your pc can get fragmented) and your cookies once in a while for better performance and security purpose. Your cookies can be stolen by others in cross site scripting. Ref:

PS. Make sure you don't have cookies blocked from cpaptalk.com as it is used to identity you and automatically log you into the site. Blocking cpaptalk.com cookies will disable the "Log me on automatically each visit" feature.
