I'm with you! When I had my sleep study I began freaking out when they shut the lights off because it was so dark in the room. I began scanning the room looking for a source of light. Any light! I had to keep looking at the red light from the camera and the little light on my finger. Eventually I was able to see enough to calm down.

At home I sleep with a night light on. I hate staying in hotels. I always forget to bring a night light so I have to leave the bathroom light on with the door open just a crack.

Add me to this list, too! I actually have a nightlight in addition to the blue lights! At my sleep study, they had a nightlight in the bathroom that was off my bedroom. They said I could turn it off if I wanted to, but it was great to have it on.

Mine's in the lower drawer of my nightstand. Slide the drawer closed - no lights, less noise.

Another vote for black electrical tape.

I'm not even aware of the lights. I don't see them since my machine is about 6 inches below the top of my mattress. I'm glad they are there (at least the on/off one), so that I can find it to turn off the machine if I need to get up in the night.

I don't usually spend the night looking at lights anyway!

You obviously never lived in Indianapolis...and didn't see Easy Rider! (Hint: "House of Blue Lights" Google away! )

I think I remember reading some research somewhere (wish I could recall where) that blue lights actually stimulate the brain toward wakefulness. Red lights apparently don't.

Is that a bad thing? I'm thinking it's not.

My vote is for the circles of the electrical tape. I read it on here a couple of months ago. They really hold up well and the buttons are completely usable without moving anything. Cutting the circles takes only a couple of minutes of your time and you won't regret it.

I'm sure that you will figure out a way to block out the lights but the bigger picture is that it sounds like you have a great attitude and you are already feeling some benefits from the CPAP. And you are already picking a fight with your supplier. Way to go, dude!

Honestly, you sound like you are well on your way to getting your life back. Welcome to the forum - come back often when you need help or can give some.
