Well, we would know because you would of course be intensively researching this therapy with all the most accurate resources available to you and your staff, including this forum at the top of your list. And you would be then reporting on the air for the millions of viewers that "nipple grease, pantyhose wrapped around your head, and painters tape to seal your mouth are all a necessary and therapeutic part of your cpap experience with a Swift LT."
OH YEAH!!

When everyone else wore white gym shoes, I was wearing black boots.

Now the mainstream has gotten into the CPAP! Now, what am i gonna do ??? How will I remain in the CPAP underground??

Apnea is going to be the new trendy diagnosis.....

Everybody's going to want a CPAP-- soon we will hear Britney, Paris, and the Kardashian sisters have CPAPs covered in diamonds & customized by french desingers.
There will be Apnea ribbon campaigns...

well, I don't have a machine covered in diamonds, but I do have a fierce leopard print hose cover courtesy of Pad-a-Cheeks )matches my leopard print manicure I gave myself tonight)

This Forum helped me, too. Still does. I wouldn't have pressures that work for me if I hadn't known to get a card reader and software. And knowing that you aren't alone can be a big boost.
Ya, this forum is amazing....Since I got Diagnosis on December 27th, joined cpaptalk on December 28th....it let to me starting CPAP on December 29th. And, even though i was in a daze getting my equipment, inside I was kind of all excited about starting it...and doing stuff with my equipment. Later reading about software...I thought that this was something I might look at in a month or two. But, ended up getting right away. And, I could see that while I had a good start, I was slowly getting worse and worse....and made some changes and now at least my AHI is nice...

The collected wisdom and various forum links and posts and the videos were also very helpful.

I don't know if I would've been as successful without this forum (I had visited another forum - ASAA - and the people there were rude and unhelpful, and I stopped hanging out there....if that had been my first experience whether I really had sleep apnea and whether to start CPAP....I probably wouldn't have.) And, I was very much working on rationalizing putting off starting CPAP. At first I was going to wait until the new year....I'm sure I would've found other excuses after that. All those expenses I incurred before the start of the new year, so I couldn't use my FSA on it...and then blowing through it really fast on other CPAP related stuff. Other financial reasons. Of course, knowing what I know now...I can very easily see that had it not been for the benefits that I have gotten since starting CPAP, I would've found it very easy to not start it.....

But, this forum convinced me to make that appointment the next day and get started.

The Dreamer.

Dreamer, I've been watching your progress and determination from the beginning which I'm sure has helped many others to stay the course. Thanks for the inspiration.

It seems that some Dr's and RT are afraid of patients who are informed. They really should be giving all new patients a link to a forum and pushing them to places like this to increase success rates.

It is my experience that once the professionals realized that I had become somewhat educated here on this forum and I wasn't going to be patronized, we have developed a better working relationship. I think I've even taught the DME a thing or two about different masks and how they fit(although she'll never admit it!)

I was telling my family doc about this place the other day as we were chatting and he told me he has a couple patients who are really having a hard time and are almost at the point where he needs to report them to the ministry of transport because of non-compliance. We were talking about what helped me at the beginning. I told him quite honestly it certainly wasn't the DME or sleep doc. He strongly believes in patients being educated about their various issues so he thought it was great when I told him about here.

He wrote it down and stuck it on his cork board so hopefully he'll pass it on to his patients.

Would anyone care to elaborate on what this is?

It is documented that it is easier to make life-style changes when you have peer support.

The problem is that so many doctors and RTs are not fully up on what's happening with sleep medicine -- it's a very dynamic field.

It's very difficult for someone who has placed themselves in a position of Authority to say "I don't know" when an informed patient asks a difficult question.

It's Canadian speak for your DMV. Doctor's are required by law to report patients who are non-compliant or who pose a risk to other drivers for any medical reason to the Minstry of Transportation. (They can be sued and or come before the medical board/licensing if they don't)

We don't have anything like that in the States, do we? Except for maybe people with CDLs?
