I'd like to know whether his DME gave him a bottom of the line CPAP machine.

They all know Regis has his morning show with a following... and that he WILL be discussing this experience on-air.

Interestingly enough I received my equipment within days of my sleep test as well. The two delay factors in my situation:

-My procrastination.

-Getting a free time slot with the RT at the DME... although once I called them it was setup for the next week.

We could have Regis or Kelly on our forum now and asking questions as a newbie and not even know it.

I wish had known about this forum when I was a newbie. Then I would have known about the importance of data and wouldn't have been stuck with 3 years of less than optimal treatment. It makes me wonder where I would be now, if my treat had been dialed in from the get go.

This forum has really opened my eyes. Given me questions I'd have never thought about asking, things I'd have never known about. Probably be a much better compliance rate if more people knew about this forum and treatment before going on the machine.

This forum has helped me tremendously to mentally prepare for my therapy. It's actually caused me to become quite excited about it, and anxious to begin it. It also has prepared me quite thoroughly when dealing with the sleep Dr. and the DME. To be perfectly honest, the knowledge I gained probably showed through when talking to them, because they have not questioned my decisions and statements. The RT at the DME actually was glad to hear that I'd been digging around for information.
It just goes to show that even a little bit of sure-footedness when dealing with Drs, insurance, and DMEs goes a VERY long way in cutting through the BS that can get in the way of the proper equipment and therapy.

This Forum helped me, too. Still does. I wouldn't have pressures that work for me if I hadn't known to get a card reader and software. And knowing that you aren't alone can be a big boost.

I saw Rose O'donald last year when she came out with her sleep apnea.
I think her product of choice was the Nasal-Aire II if I remember correctly.
She was the only celeb that I have seen come out and talk about it. I'm glad Regis has come out and talked about it.

All my life, I've taken pride in being consciously non-conformist and individualist in my music choices, philosophical outlook, traveling, clothes, etc.
When everyone else wore white gym shoes, I was wearing black boots.

Now the mainstream has gotten into the CPAP! Now, what am i gonna do ??? How will I remain in the CPAP underground??

Apnea is going to be the new trendy diagnosis.....

Everybody's going to want a CPAP-- soon we will hear Britney, Paris, and the Kardashian sisters have CPAPs covered in diamonds & customized by french desingers.
There will be Apnea ribbon campaigns...

Yeah, but does he know anything about mouth leaking/breathing, and how this will totally destroy his therapy unless he tapes his mouth???? So Karen, since you got his address to send him your PadaCheeks, could ya please include this forum address and tell him to tune in to the experts?

Edit: Johnny, I see a huge opportunity for you here!!

.... Something tells me that if Regis joins us, he'll be using a pseudonym.... But I doubt he'll get better help anywhere but on cpaptalk!

I have a sneaking suspicion that he'll have a sleep-in RT for at least a few nights to monitor his therapy. He seems a little klutzy and I can't imagine Joy staying up all night(like I did in the beginning) to make sure he's still breathing.

Now let's see if he goes public about his creative use of pantyhose and lanisoh!

Yep, I can see it now. Regis describing for the millions that nipple grease, pantyhose wrapped around his head, and painters tape to seal his mouth are all a necessary and therapeutic part of his cpap experience.
OH YEAH!!

And don't forget Regis will have to wear a Buff to prevent crazy hair.... Or his hair and makeup people will go crazy.
