Thanks rested gal! I'm a science geek so I tend to be methodical! I'm also enamored with exclamation marks...ha! I think finding a good general practitioner or internist is key to "fixing things" so I did a lot of research on my current doc before I chose him. The internet is an amazing thing. LOL.
Night 4 went a lot better than night 3. I went to bed a bit earlier. I got up twice during the night but that was mainly because of pain associated with surgery I had a little over a week ago. An ice pack and some ibuprofen fixed that right up. Getting up was easier than yesterday and I actually got up about 20 minutes early. My dreams were extremely vivid too and I actually remember having them! We'll see how the day goes. Yesterday the 3:00 pm mark did have me nodding off. Hopefully that won't happen today. I guess I still have sleep debt to catch up on.

So...it's been a little over a week and what can I tell you so far....I felt better almost from the get go...but I was still a little tired during the day...I'd get a little sleep around 10 am and then again around 2:30. The big difference was that I wasn't falling asleep. I was able to stay awake when I got home and I did more...but nothing like I used to do back in my crazy days of youth. HAHA. ...
That was until Tuesday hit. I don't know if it was a combination of having been out for 2 weeks on completely unrelated surgery and just readjusting to a new sleep schedule, or that I needed a week to get used to the CPAP and pay off my sleep debt...or all of the above...but come Tuesday: WOW.
It's like somebody dropped some crack in my coffee. I haven't felt this energetic since I was in college. I'm getting up about 15-30 minutes earlier, I'm tearing through my work in the office, I get home and I run errands and have actually been hitting the gym again and I just feel so much more alert. I hope it continues because I feel like I'm getting my life back and it's amazing. Interestingly...my appetite has gone down and so have my carb cravings. I've even dropped a couple of pounds. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and I hope the honeymoon doesn't end. I feel like an idiot for not having looked into this earlier.

Congratulations!!! It's amazing what you notice when the bennies of xPAP therapy kick in isn't it...so many things/activities forgotten, like remembering dreams, waking up before the alarm, waking up feeling refreshed, sharper mind & memory, a returned sense of humor, new-found patience, cheerfulness, optimism, enjoying sunshine & birds singing in the morning, having high energy, reading without falling sleep, watching TV or movies without falling asleep, listening to music without falling asleep, actually wanting to exercise, cooking for enjoyment (well, maybe that's just me!), active leisure activities instead of napping or feeling like a slug

Thanks for the Props, Muse-Inc and Rested gal. My manager at work's even noticed the difference. It's amazing what a little bit of good sleep can do for you.
