Carbonman,

Get better soon - not good being that 'gummed up'

I have found that when on cpap, colds seemed to keep away & I used to think cpap
ventilation somehow kept us healthier. But I have wondered if in fact it is possible
for cold infections that we may have resisted but were there, might get into the
air hose & then if I don't clean the hose every couple of days (which I sometimes
don't do) that the infection might 'bite'.

My std way of cleaning my main air hose is to put a capfull of mouthwash into it &
add about 2 capfulls of warm water. Shake it around then run hot water in until the
mouthwash smell has gone. I figure the bacteria & germs have as well.

I'm sorry carbo, that you're having a rough time. People's experiences differ. For me, too much humidity makes my sinus problems worse. I'm with Ozij about being careful. My already existent sinus problems became much worse after beginning CPAP, and I've had to lose a lot of sleep from them. I'm on antibiotics about 2 weeks out of every 6. One thing I know about the bronchitis is that even after the infection is over (even heard this on the tv this morning), the inflammation and coughing continue. That's when something like Advair can speed up the recovery. It doesn't have to be taken more than a week or two to get the job done.

I feel your misery and hope you get better soon.
