Lisinopril was my blood pressure medication for several years before I developed a cough that would keep me up for about a half hour every night when I would lay down to sleep. My Doctor changed my prescription to Benicar and the cough quickly went away. Other than the cough I never had any other problems with lisinopril as my Medication. The good news is I now see that lisinopril is a 4 Dollar prescription at Walmart for those who can tolerate this medication.

With or without the cough, I can tolerate Lisinopril. What I can't tolerate is Walmart...

Wow, it's interesting to see so many others had "the cough" too! And I agree that folks shouldn't just stop taking meds without talking to their docs.

Of course, I didn't follow that advice.

But I am 41, was barely hypertensive enough to warrant bp meds before I started CPAP, and was on an "introductory low dose" of lisinopril. Now that I've been on CPAP for a few months, I'm not sure I even need bp meds any longer and had planned on trying to stop them when my 90-day supply ran out. I also have a bp cuff at home that I inherited from my mom, so I can keep an eye on things and head to the docs if anything strange happens.

I'm sort of a newbie when it comes to prescription meds, and I hadn't really put much thought into "side effects" until I realized this miserable cough was one. Now I have an even stronger reason to lose weight and watch my diet...to avoid more drugs!

Anyway, the cough has slowly been getting better and better the last ~5 days and is almost gone. Hurray!
