I did so much "research" before we ordered the CPAP machine, etc. She has cancer and was not in any mental or physical shape to worry about that.

Hardly ever washing is quite common--we are NOT pigs--we just don't want to be OCD.
I am a little germaphobic OCD so I do clean my cushion and empty and dry my water chamber daily, and wash the hose weekly.

The moisture in my hose from the humidifier isn't fully dried out by the cool down on my S9.
It takes about 6 weeks for the hose to develop that characteristic air conditioner musty funk.
I just rinse it out with plain water (no soap). It's good for another 6 weeks or so.

I clean my hose weekly with an all day soak in a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar. The water reservoir, nasal pillow, and mask hose get the same treatment at the same time. I wipe my nasal pillow down with citrus cpap wipes everyday, followed by a clean water rinse.
After use and cleaning all the above equipment gets hung up to dry.

And this comes as a big surprise to everyone????

First and only time a topic has got derailed???
Wish I had a dollar for every time.
To everyone::::
The ONLY person that I care about and their routine (or lack of) is myself.
What someone else might do is irrelevant to me.
Whatever floats someone's boat is fine by me.....just don't go trying to cram someone else's way down my throat.

I know most of these answers are from 2009 so here goes in 2021.
Do the recommendations and suggestions still apply in 2021?
Some are saying not to use Dawn and use Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo instead. Is this true or false?
Wash hose? Don't wash hose?
I've never seen any reason to wash the hose, it probably gets more crud in it from washing than from the filtered air and water vapor that goes through it normally

. I have not been doing anything with the hose except it gets replaced every three months via Medicare.)
Waste of money, and good hoses, just because your DME wants to bill medicare every three months doesn't mean you need to let them.
