grandmma and gvd, since you've been supportive of my view about bananas (looks like we're the only ones here with any taste) I can let you in on a big secret, as long as you promise not to tell anyone.
You may know that Rotary International, along with the WHO and supported very generously in recent years by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has been running a project for about 25 years now to rid the world of polio. This has been an extraordinary effort, and has involved vaccinating just about every child in the world, in communities as remote as you can possibly imagine. Within the next 2-3 years it is anticipated that polio will be defeated and there will be no more infections - at present it is endemic in only a handful of countries, Afghanistan being one of them. The budget for the final eradication is something like $300m, and is being raised as we speak (google Polio Plus for more info - this is all out of the top of my head so some of the details may be fuzzy)
Anyway, a proposal has recently been accepted for the next major project, to be called bananas-. Project planning has started in secret, headquartered in Chicago. Funding has been pledged by both governments and private foundations all over the world. A key plank of the project will be the education of the worlds population to the deleterious and sinister effects of bananas, both medically and economically. It is acknowledged there are some positive attributes to bananas, so a significant body of research has been commissioned to isolate and synthesize the particular chemistries.
Now I've told you about this, please keep it very quiet; there are major political and economic lobbies, often known as Banana Republics, who have an agenda to derail this project which is potentially the greatest humanitarian project the world has ever seen.
And how do I know about this. Well, I just do!
K

Good choice... That town is crawling with banana "gangstas"! They carry professional herbicides in violin cases and know just how to get the job done.

The upside is I got THE WORLD'S BEST Barbecue for lunch on Saturday, and then again for breakfast on Sunday.

Babs, don't you hate it when those 'skinny little freaks' eat all they want, and stay slim?
I used to be one of those, until well into my 40s. Couldn't understand all the angst, but now I get it! Don't know whether to congratulate you or sympathise - a guy who can cook would be great on the one hand, but then on the other the food could be laid on, so to speak - to eat, or not to eat? Great problem to have though!

Well, I tried the "Banana Smoothie" last night. Was not impressed. Actually had a worse night than usual. Wife tried it with me and she said it caused her to have hot flashes all night.
The only thing I noticed was my hair looks really good today.

A banana peel to your forehead will stop a headache through the absorbtion of potassium.
