Not getting a decent nights sleep can have negative effects outweighing most concerns expressed here. When I am too uptight to sleep, I rotate between 3 or 4 to avoid the "hang over" drowsy effect when taken several nights in a row. So take your meds and get a good night's sleep.

As long as posters are recommending references regarding benzodiazepine use, I would also suggest reading The New Antidepressants and Antianxieties by William S. Appleton, M.D. Appleton is a psychiatrist of 40 plus years and a member of the Harvard Medical School faculty. Dr. Appleton has also never taken any money from a drug company in the form of speaking honoraria or research support. His book is thoroughly referenced and his observations about the use of benzodiazepines is objective, non-hysterical, and put into proper perspective with regard to a bulk of the peer-reviewed scientific articles regarding; uses and effectiveness for anxiety, depression, and panic disorder. As well as tolerance, abuse, addiction, and dependence on the medication.
