Mr. Sandman --
I don't even know what a Cargo Largo is.
Our overstock, freight return store is a small locally owned store, not a chain. It carries many name brand items for a fraction of the cost -- although I do admit you have to look over your purchase carefully for any damage. They do have a return policy that helps in this regard.
I do think it is a shame that a select few have targeted Bret for undue criticism. After all if you don't like his prices or products simple don't buy them -- no one is forcing you to buy from him -- no one is holding a gun on you saying hit the buy button.
I wish Bret well and hope he continues to produce his line of cpap items.

If you don't like Respironics machines don't buy them.
If you don't like ReMed machines don't buy them
If you don't like Covidein /Puritan Bennet machines don't buy them....
Etc.
I believe this forum is meant to be a place where we talk freely about what we use in our cpap therapy. It is a place for expressing opinions.
Saying "I won't buy this because it's much too expensive" is an opinion that can be expressed about any product at all. Be it a machine, or an accessory.
Bret is here to sell his merchandise to cpap users, and there is no reason to give him special treatment.
This forum is where "if we dont' like it, we say loud and clear why we don't like it.". And if we think someone - e.g. a DME - is pulling a fast one, we also say it.
Oh by the way, speaking of a select few, in addition to the Regenessis Pillow trial:

I was one that was really afraid of the scents due to asthma and allergies -- but they have NOT been triggered when using the Pur-Sleep scents.
I am now in the trial of the AirCandy that he has going -- all are great smells!!

Having tried many buckwheat hull pillows I can say that they are NOISY and HARD because they're all made with single layer cotton (plus a cotton case), making side sleeping very uncomfortable. The double layered quilted material is much more expensive than single layer cotton. On top of that all of the buckwheat hull pillows I've seen or used follow the same design, with the top and bottom panels sewn together. That creates a V shape right in the cervical area. Unfortunately, hulls are highly flowable and are easily pushed out of the cervical area during active sleep. My design uses a four-inch vertical side panel which has the effect of creating a generous, three dimensional space in the cervical area that curves outward. This results in a pocket that holds the buckwheat hulls right in the desired area even during active sleep (in my experience and those who have actually used the pillow). So, all of the extra material, extra labor sewing the pillow, the zipper, and six pounds of hulls, and high shipping costs (the website offers $5 flat rate shipping, much less than actual shipping costs) makes for a high cost pillow. The product is not trying to compete with canvas pillows sewn in China.
Not sure what you did to piss this SAG guy off, but his obsession with you borders on "stalker". I'd watch my back if I were you...

I admit freely that I have taken part in many of Bret's trials. Like everyone else on the forum when he has expressed interest in users trying his products and I have taken part in his trials that interest me -- others I have not taken part in because I have no interest in. As far as I know anyone on the forum could have followed his instructions to take part in his trials.
I, too, feel that the forum should be a place for honest exchanges of what works for us and what doesn't. But if one has not experienced certain things why do they think they have the to resort to multiple negative post about it.
There have been many post about the other so called speciality cpap pillows. I have tried to express my opinion on what has worked for me in the past and what is working for me now. To my recollection I have not ridiculed anyone for expressing it as their choice to use. If someone praises a certain pillow I do not repeatedly keep posting that -- oh by the way your choice is too expensive -- your choice is bad -- your choice is (insert your own negative comment).
Yes, I have made several comments on positive aspects of Bret's products, along with other posts about items I use and like. I commented on my first impression, after a few nights, and then a comparison of both types of pillows (my homemade one and Bret's). These are honest observations and opinions. I do not run products down repeatedly in other people's threads about items they like, endorse, or post about.
If someone has ACTUAL experience with a product good or bad I see where multiple post maybe warranted -- but to continually run down products that one has NO PERSONAL experience with lacks credibility in my opinion.
I do not work for Bret, am not related to Bret, am not paid by Bret for his endorsements, nor associated with Bret in any manner. He is another forum member like myself. Others come to the forum to sell their products as well -- in fact didn't Sandman hawk his software here that he wanted to sell?
MrSandman wrote:I decided to stick with the M-series Auto with A-flex and sold the Sandman Auto HC. If anyone is interested in the newest version 1.2 of Sandman software in original package with manuals plus the USB reader plus a spare memory key PM me if you have a verified paypal account with a confirmed address. I purchased this at cpap.com and have receipt. The software and reader are $199 today and the Memory key is $39.95 so this is a $238.95 value and I will sell for $165 shipped in US.
I will put on auction soon but more people read here.
- Gotta pay those recent hospital / doctor bills
I don't believe either that Bret / SleepGuy should get preferential treatment on the forum -- but neither do I think he needs to be continually blasted about his products when others on here hawk their products as well.

I tried a buckweat hull pillow years ago, great pilow BUT after sweating at night - it was summer- the thing started to smell! I think it said it couldn't be washed, though I tried, smelled worse. so I tossed it. It didn't cost $65 but was more than a regular pillow.

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't used one of them during the hot months -- but do know that I sweat when it is hot.

sweat, drool , hair coloring (have you seen the average age of our active members?), dandruff, and foodstains are just some of the stuff that gets rubbed off on our pillows, sooner or later they affect the odor and the hygiene of the contents and I'm embarrassed to say, none of the stores I frequent carry buckwheat so if it can't be washed it quickly becomes an expensive piece of fluff.

I am quite concerned about this issue as well, and asked it of the folks i have ordered my pillow from, as i live in almost total humidity most of the year. they advised me to weekly and/or when the hulls seem moist to hang it in the sun for a few hours or when it starts to smell to put it in the freezer in the Am and take it out in the PM and this reduces the smell. i wont have any idea if this will work until i actually get the pillow, as it didn't come yesterday but time will tell........

Quite surprising. Surely it did not weigh nine or ten pounds?

I just checked my hulls as I had purchased extra and the bags were 1 pound each. I have counted the remaining bags I have left and found that I have 7 pounds left out of 20. I used four bags for the pillow I received from Bret. If I added correctly that accounts for 11 of the bags leaving 9 pounds being in the homemade pillow. I really feel that it could have used at least 2 more bags of hulls, but decided to stop as I was having trouble holding it upright and open enough to dump in the hulls. As far as having someone help me -- all that is here beside me is my dachshund and although he thinks he is human I haven't been able to train him to do housework or be of much help around here.
On memory foam pillows I use an allergy barrier encasing due to allergies. Those typically are so tightly woven that they somewhat waterproof. When they show signs of perspiration I wash the case in hot water and place it back on my pillow. I didn't put one on the buckwheat pillow but was wondering why a person couldn't do that for protection.
I still stand behind my comments on Bret's pillow -- but I would prefer one that is longer. The width is fine and I don't have a problem with that -- but I am used to king size pillows and the size Bret offers is regular size. I knew that when I trialed the pillow that the size was regular instead of king so is not a reflection on the pillow and I am going to continue to use it (really hoping at some point Bret includes a larger size) as I like the way it cradles my head and supports my neck area.
I live in a small community and our choices are limited. The only store within thirty miles that sales fabric is WalMart and their selection isn't all that big. I looked at the various pillow protectors in the stores here (K-Mart -- small and no fabric and a limited selection of merchandise) and WalMart (larger but still not as big as those in the bigger cities). If you could find the correct material AND if you were handy with a sewing machine a replica could probably be made. But considering that I used the cheapest hulls I could find -- they cost me $35.00 for 20 pounds (couldn't order a smaller quantity unless the cost of the hulls went up substantially) and those were the cheapest I could find on the web the day I ordered, the zipper, enough material that is quilted and of a woven fabric tight enough to keep the hulls from working through -- the homemade version is still fairly expensive.
Has anyone experimented with the herbal pillows. In searching for pillows on the net one site was advertising aromatherapy pillows where dried herbs were placed inside with the pillow stuffing. I have a heating pad that contains aromatherapy that I love and would like to to try that.
Anyone have any ideas of what herbs would be used? Where they might be purchased?

For the record - I have nothing against Bret or his products but just Lawyers in general . Just Kidding...
I love entrepreneurship and if he can get whatever price he can get than good for him.
I think he is wasting his time but that is his business.
Maybe he will come up with the next pocket fisherman for cpap users, hell if I care.
LIVE AND LET LIVE.

SAG is only concerned with the welfare of all mankind as he has demonstrated in the past. His only motive is to ensure the safety and efficacy of any products touted here and proper pricing of said products.
