That's a possibility. If they try to bill you for an "upgrade", Rockin Mama, I'd sic the doctor on them. Both those machines are billed under exactly the same billing code to your insurance:
CPAP E0601
Insurance is going to pay the DME one amount no matter which "cpap" the DME gives you. The DME is not going to make
as much profit on the Elite as they would on the Escape, but you can bet they'll still do ok. If the DME sends you a bill, tell your good PA. The DME is going to want to keep the doctor happy...doctors are the referral source for their business. They'll back off quickly about trying to charge you an "upgrade fee" if the doctor or PA don't look kindly on it.

Yes tricare covers the Elite II. They are covering both my husband's and my Elites. There is a copay, you will receive an EOB showing the amount you are responsible for. IIRC I think it is about 170.00, will check when I get home. It is also a 13 month "rental" before you own the machine.

Rockin Mama wrote:And... She called the DME.... and she explained everything.. I went to DME, to speak with them, because that's what PA said to do... I get there, and they said "I am sorry for the trouble, here is your new machine"... but what gets me after talking to all of you, is they said "We'll ATTEMPT to bill tricare, i don't know that they cover this upgrade" as most of you said all CPAPs are the same code... so why wouldn't they?
Anyway i can gladly change my info i NOW have an ELITE II!!!!!!
Is there a dance smilie, because i could surely use it right now!
The dancing pickle is one of my personal favorites...

Shark, worked great except that we had to make the block 7"x7" to accomodate the FF mask. Hubby had a good leak rate last night. With the last memory foam pillow we tried the half-moon shape but carved too much away. This may be better. What's great is these pillows are very inexpensive so it doesn't break the bank to experiment. Thanks.

Congratulations RM! I wish you complete success with your new machine.
Be sure and get your data from the LCD before noon each day as the machine clears the data at noon to get ready for the next day. The first day I check for data on my first ResMed I was disappointed to find there was none because I checked in the evening. Since I hadn't been using it a week, there was no weekly or monthly data and the daily data had already cleared.
I've found that keeping a sleep log is very helpful. It might be even more helpful to you if you don't have software. I highly recommend the software if you can afford it. I was very fortunate and picked up the software and card reader slightly used for a very good price.
Be sure and keep us posted!

We've all been there, done that, in some form or manner. Sheister sleep docs, sheister DME suppliers, no support, mask difficulties, leak difficulties, you name it, there's someone(s) here who've encountered it and made it thru to share their experience and the remedy.
