When my husband needed an expensive special cushion for his recliner due to hip surgery, we were told by our local medical supply gal who knew us well, that if we buy it we cannot return it if it's opened. Only if the material was defective in some way. All medical equipment and accessories works that way. Opened items cannot be repackaged and resold, federal law prohibits that. Cpap.com is the only place I know of that offers return insurance. I had to return a mask once and was thankful I had the insurance. I am definitely not computer savvy but the return policy and info about insurance is all over that website. Good job, cpap.com!!

Dang, all you guys must work for CPAP.Com. That's the only reason I can understand why you would get so upset. First, off I did buy the insurance and they still will not refund my money. Second, I returned it within 7 days of getting it!!!! You guys really love the company you work for. Thats loyalty. I am proud of you guys. Especially, for the person who's five year can read!!!!!

Honeybunch, in your first post, you said, "I did not know anything about return insurance. Who has ever heard of return insurance."
And now you're saying you did buy the insurance.... so which is it?

One of the above statements is wrong. Either you bought insurance before the mask was shipped or you did not. Your receipt and ship date should make that clear.
Problem solved!

I heard of return insurance... on my first purchase from CPAP.COM. I wish I did work for them, but I don't live in Houston, and it'd be a bit of a commute from N'Awlins.

As a satisfied customer caveated his emptor before buying, I will continue to buy from CPAP.com and encourage others to do so. And I don't work for them.
BTW, if they were as bad as you are trying to make them out, would they give you free reign to dis them?

Well, actually, if you bought the mask on CPAP.COM,
no matter how you addded it to the shopping cart, you were taken to a very prominent description of Return Insurance and an offer to purchase it for 12.75 that is really in your face, there is no way to avoid it:
Either you managed to purchase the mask without looking at any screens, or you did and are now claiming that you didn't know about return insurance even though you did or.....

Hmmm....
I just bought a new mask a few days ago to give me an occasional relief from nasal pillows. I've tried the mask for a week before courtesy of my Sleep lab at my first try. Anyway, the rate I was offered was over half the cost of the mask itself and since the chance of me retaining this mask was high I declined it. IF $12.75 is across the board I was hit with a glitch, otherwise I can understand why people might play roulette.

Employed by cpap.com - hmmm, if the disability police find that out I'll be in trouble! But if I did work for them, then you might have a legitimate complaint, since I'm a few cards short of a deck these days.
Defensive of cpap.com - that I'll readily admit. As a cpap dropout, their provision of this forum was the catalyst to my return and subsequent success at cpap treatment. And they didn't pay me to say that. Nor do I expect a free mask as a prize for my support.
Krystal, try to consider that just maybe the opinions expressed here are valid and spoken from a degree of experience with the organization you don't yet have. I just did a little quick guesstimate of that experience - looks like about 29 years combined just based on the start date of the 22 members who have commented here. And I didn't count Johnny Goodman, since he IS cpap.com.
If you purchased return insurance and returned the items according to the terms, I'm sure if you produce that documentation they will act accordingly. If you did not purchase the insurance, I hope you soon will be able to step back and take an objective look.

Well, I'm pretty new here, but I bought things twice from cpap.com, based on the raves from this site. My first order had a mistake on the shipping, and the person I called about it wasn't very quick to offer how to remedy it, but did respond to my suggestion. I wrote an email to the company stating I was not completely happy with how I was served, and received an immediate response stating that the problem had been corrected, and apologizing for any problems in communication. This wasn't a public complaint, just a private email, with no more benefit to them, than keeping a customer happy.
To me, that is a sign of a good company. Anybody can have an off day, and I am willing to give them a second chance. Since then I received a second mask (with return insurance) and it makes lots of sense to me. The insurance covers enough of the cost to make it possible for the company to afford to lose the sale, and the money they already have invested in the mask. They are the only place I have seen that you can get ANY of your money back on personal products, not to mention medical goods. Have you ever tried to return a prescription medication? Once you took it, its yours! Doesn't matter if it is still manufacturer sealed, they won't take it back.
Johnny is going beyond what is necessary to try to accommodate you, just in case he did make a mistake. To me, that is more than he should have to do, but it is also what makes him unusual in a competitive market. That is something I want to support.

When I first got my machine, it was on a rental basis with Apria. I took it back 29 days later, I destroyed the filter and hose to prevent others from using them. It is wholly unreasonable to expect CPAP.com to take a mask back

Here are my feelings about this. I have worked at 3 labs with DME companies. We have given aways masks to we are blue in the face trying to get someone comfortable with a mask. This goes way beyond 30 days. I work with a DME company that has actually given masks away for a over a year before. The idea of paying an insurance fee of almost $13 seems excessive to me, since we pay $12-$18 a mask at the lab. I understand that DME's pay more for them, but the masks themselves are cheap. CPAP.com could always make a good portion of their money back by selling the equipment that isn't damaged on their acution site. So, yes there are companies that will work with their clients until they are happy. Now on saying this, I also see CPAP.com's point since shipping and handling is involved. They can't just keep shipping masks back and fourth and expect to stay in business. I guess my question would be, did you buy your CPAP from them? If you did, I could see you being upset that they aren't working with you. If you didn't, then you aren't really their original customer, and they would take a hit by returning masks constantly. I should point out that the DME's that I have worked with that have a good return policy only applies if the patient bought their machine from them. Thats my 2 cents worth, if its worth even that. BTW people, don't you think you were kind of harsh on this lady? I think members should atleast TRY to be a little nicer to newbies. Now I will probably be thrown under the bus too. Oh well. Just thought I would share my feelings.
