My hose is s-t-u-c-k and I can't get it off........I have bilateral carpal tunnel post surgery with grip/hand weakness. Once I set my mackine up, I discovered I couldn't get the hose off. I tried and was afraid I was going to break it! Eventually, I will figure something out to get it off to clean. Luckily, I have almost no rainout as I run my house under my bedcovers which is as good as a snuggler!!! Right now it doesn't get warm enough in my house to dry the hose after cleaning and it's still new and clean...just hope I don't get a cold anytime soon!!!!.

Don't tell anyone i told you but if you really have to take the hose off to hang it out to dry, an easier way is to unclip the flip lid with the hose and hang that out to dry, unless you are travelling of course. The flip lid is manufactured from polycarbonate so its is pretty tough. The way to do it is to lift the lid up, then put a finger near one of the hinge points and pull the side out to disengage the pin(which is part odf the lid). The flip lid should release quite easily. Hope this helps.

If you feel the need to dry the hose - I have made a hose dryer that works a treat

The next model will have some forced convection, so you can leave the hose on the machine and connect the dryer at the mask end. Half an hour should do it.

It isn't that I remove the hose daily or cannot get the hose off.

The problem for me is that from time-to-time this hose WILL be taken off and as it stands now there is some wrestling around involved to get it off. My experience is that with things that are difficult to remove sooner or later some of those parts involved will break due to the stress being applied. In this particular case either the flip-top lid will develop a crack or the hose end will show signs of deterioration. As well, occasionally I do take the hose off to pack up the machine for a trip. That event involves a lot of attaching/reattaching the hose.

Sure, there are always the tricks to remove a difficult hose: Twist the hose end, curl the hose end back on itself, rock it back and forth. Heck, for a really difficult hose I would employ a trick used to remove bicycle handlebar grips... insert some hair spray between the hose and humidifier nozzle. The hair spray will work its way around the hose and it should come off with a little twist.

For me the idea of using the "quick disconnect" is to avoid placing undue stress on the parts and to make taking apart the machine an easy procedure... for those times when I do travel and other times when I simply want to disassemble the machine.

There is no reason to endure this issue when there is a simple $4.00 solution at hand. Again, my thanks to diesel_gal for pointing this out to me.

EXCELLENT suggestion! The machine continues to pump air through the water chamber (I guess to cool it down?) for about 30 minutes so daily hose drying has never seemed an issue to me. I give it a once over once a week with a vinegar bath and drape it over the shower bar. I have a spare hose that I alternate every week.

I rock it side to side for the mask and at the unit. If you're careful not to stress the "hose" part and keep stress on the rubber, you're golden.

I agree with Paul. I find myself removing the hose for different reasons. Not constantly but enough to make it irritating if I have to wrestle, wiggle and peel it off. I have a low patience level and it is well worth the $4.00 I paid for a connector to keep me from throwing a hissy fit and cursing a blue streak!

...and the big raspberry to Canada Post who took *6 DAYS* to get it from Kitchener, Ontario to Ottawa, Ontario... which is excessively long.

So I hook it up... doesn't seem to be quite the quick disconnect I was expecting or perhaps I put things together too tight.

I will add these little devices to my ever growing collection of xPAP stuff and perhaps will find a use for them someday.

Paul, I find you don't have to push it on too hard, then it comes of easy as can be! I have a quick connect on both the humdifier end, and on the mask end. They both work great! No leaks that I can tell, even when not pushing it on hard.
