Interestingly enough, there are several of my posts from last night that have disappeared....I did not delete them...

oddly enough the very same thing happened to me.............

I guess if you don't use CPAP there are things you just won't know.

My machine has been on the floor for about the last year or so. It has NOT yet fallen off the floor and Gumby thinks it IS THE best place for it.

I bought a Sterilite Container - originally I intended to drill holes for the hose but after inserting the machine I realized if I just laid the cover on top it helped to suppress the M series noise and allowed for ample air exchange. I keep anything I will need right inside the container. If I travel locally this is the travel container.

I hang my mask and other supplies here so I do NOT sit on them.

The cover helps to reduce the noise and keeps the dust out. I guess it could also help to keep animals or small children out too.

I was thinking of an attack trained snapping turtle to keep kids outta my room and away from my VPAP Auto!!!

Hmmm, I may have to investigate putting my machine into a sterilite container... might be a lot cheaper than trying to see if I use a different humidifier will help reduce the 'wind' noise.

Though there was another reason why I'm considering a separate humidifier....

That "wind noise" which sounds to me like I have a washing machine in my BR (I have the same machine as yours, Dreamer) . . . was keeping me awake night after night. Last night I dug out some cheap foam ear plugs that I hadn't used in years (still good) , , , and that did the trick! I sleep with my machine on a night stand right beside the side of the bed I sleep on, and I could hear NOTHING . . . only the slight hum of my mask. I fell asleep shortly after! So simple, but I just forgot such a simple solution

Whenever I read these "machine noise" posts, I always look in the sig to see what kind of machine they have. Inevitably, it is a respironics machine. I was so ignorant when I got my machine that I just took what they gave me. Dumb luck resulted in an extremely quiet machine.

Well, right now its the hope that it'll cut the noise from the humidifier tank (I think its acting like some kind of resonance chamber to amplify the noise of me breathing in and out through through the mask. Either that, or its the change in blower strain and c-flex. Either way its a definite darth vadar sound that alternates with my inhale/exhale. And, it bugs me....the sound masking machine machine doesn't do enough to help. And, earplugs hurt my ears....

Though there have been a few times where I've been dangerously close to running out of water, though I might be past that part of the year now....

The hose is much closer to your head, are you sure this noise isn't coming from the hose? Do you have a hose cover? Try turning cflex OFF?

Gumby, you beat me to it, I was going to suggest the same thing about turning off Cflex. Babette described it as the sound in an ICU and suggested that solution. We turned it off and it's much quieter. We also bought a WhisperCap from cpap.com which helps too.

Well, it is starting to get hard to tell where the noise is coming from, but I'm sure I don't recall hearing it the first few nights when I didn't have a humidifier (the DME was out of them when I started).... I have a hose cover, which didn't make any difference that I recall.

I don't yet feel like digging into the clinician setup to turn off C-Flex (why did Respironics decide if you are enabled for C-Flex that you can only vary it...and not be able to turn it off). Perhaps once I'm past the stage where I have turn in data for my usage. Then what they can't see, shouldn't bother them.

I have the whispercap, it didn't make any difference to this noise.

Ozji, Just curious about where that "Delete Spam" button is. I have a "Report Spam" button, I don't think that's what you're referring to.

Oh I had a whisper cap on mine too.

The short story is I had to endure many months, many more phone calls, 3 wrong parts, even after providing the correct pn to my DME, who had never heard of it - to get the correct whisper cap. Then my RT curious about this newfangled part - broke a tab off of it when he tried to check it out. Then left w/o telling me. I found it when I went to clean my filter later that day.

So now, more than 4 weeks later, I am still waiting for the whisper cap AND my now over due monthly pillows. You'd never know that DME's are in business to make money, NOT this way.

GumbyCT - who is just happy, no Greatful that DME's don't do medical emergencies.

It is the "Report Spam" button she is talking about. We report it then Admin reviews it - then they have the "Delete Spam" button.
