Update:

DME has the new prescription, as I dictated it, and is processing the order. Yippee!

I think we need a new award. In addition to the Lab Rat Award, we should have a Dog With A Bone Award (commonly known as the DWABA ). It would be given to members for creative perseverence with a doc or DME above and beyond the call of duty. If that award is ever developed, I nominate Link to receive the first one. Way to go, Link!!

"creative perserverence" I like that! It sounds so much better than "lying", "cheating", and "prescription fraud"!

Let's see what they deliver. I had a DME stand in front of me with a new machine I had ordered. The conversation went something like this:

Me: That's not the machine I ordered.
DME: Yes it is.
Me: I ordered A-Flex. That is a C-Flex.
DME: It is an A-Flex.
Me: The manufacturer's writing on the top says C-Flex not A-Flex.
DME: But it is an A-Flex.
Me: (after picking up the machine and looking at the tag on the bottom) Show me where it says A-Flex.
DME: (Picks up machine and looks at bottom and puts it back down) It is an A-Flex.
Me: Show me where it says that. It is not an A-Flex.
DME: Yes it is.
Me: No it is not.
DME: Yes it is.
Me: No it is not.
DME: Yes it is.
Me: (thinking I am retired and have the whole day; she is working and must have other things to do, so I can outlast her; and besides she is an attractive thing so I don't mind standing here in front of her): No it is not.
DME: Yes it is.
Me: No it is not.
DME: Well then show me what an A-Flex is.
Me: Take me to a computer with internet access.
DME: Just a minute. (leaves room)
DME: (Ten minutes later returns to room): I will order you an A-Flex and it should be here next week.
Me: Thank you, I will call next week.

Of course I would not have put up with that crap except my insurance, Cigna was paying 100% if I used Apria as supplier (and the lady was good looking!).

OMG, that was funny to read, rooster!

Especially loved this part --

Hey Rooster, I think her brother is at my DME. He said the M-Series Plus he was trying to give me was identical to the Pro.
Me: No it is not.
DME: Yes it is.
Me: No it is not.
DME: Yes it is.
Me: No it is not.
DME: Yes it is.
Me: No it is not. The Pro has full data capability, the Plus doesn't. The Dr want's to see the data.
DME: Oh... <pause>... they didn't tell me you needed that.
He finally went in the back & came back with an M-Series Pro. Also, he wasn't as cute as yours.

Right coast, left coast.

Dan, I am guessing triplets. One will show up from Kansas before this thread dies.

Hey! I had that very same conversation about the same two models. That's what directly lead to my self-dictated model-specific prescription. (I upgraded myself from the Pro to the Auto w/A-pap for my time and trouble...)

As of 4 weeks ago, cpap.com will sell you an APAP even if your prescription says CPAP.

Wow, I am so glad that I decided to cut about 6 grand a year off of my insurance by getting a high deductible. I took that savings and spent a grand with cpap.com and got EVERYTHING I wanted and needed...

I'm beginning to feel left out.....my DME started with the fully data capable, explaining that the lesser models just don't give enough data to see if the treatment is any good....

I almost swooned.

It's ALWAYS been that way with them.
The only exception is that you can't purchase a straight CPAP if your prescription says "APAP".

Yeah, I didn't mean that it just started 4 weeks ago. I was just leaving open the possibility (albeit somewhat tongue in cheek...) that it could have changed in the past 4 weeks. Kind of a YMMV type deal...

Obviously, it's NOT the same one *I* have!!

Are you "jax" as in Jacksonville, FL? If so, PM me with your DME. I sense an ugly "divorce" in my CPAP future... I may fire the sleep doc, too!

My DuMmiE just called and my machine is in. I'll pick it up after work. (Guess they are tired of delivering the WRONG equipment to my house...)

I'm a little leery about going after Rooster's prediction above...

but looking forward to seeing some numbers tomorrow!!!
