So I may be bumping this question here today in hopes that you all may have other lightbulb ideas.
Your thought on the Everest might be a good one: why not call CPAP.COM tomorrow, early, and talk to some of their experts? They may have some thoughts, too. (I've been trying to think of something small for travel, myself, but there just isn't a small, battery powered substitute for a Bipap Auto SV!)

You might also consider calling your tour company and see what suggestions they have. They're obviously specialists in the type of tour you're doing, and they're bound to have encountered just about every problem known to humankind. And if they haven't encountered a CPAP issue... well, you'll have the dubious distinction of being their learning experience.

You bet I will, Kiralynx. This forum and cpap.com are "my people!" Will be calling cpap.com at 8AM, and my tour company immediately thereafter. I am fortunate to be doing happily with straight cpap, so I know my situation could be worse in terms of the size of machine I might be able to add to my....collection.

Anyone here using the Everest who can answer the questions I had above?

The only member I recall seeing list the Everest in her machines is Rested Gal. She was away but I recall a post by her this morning so she may be home. Maybe you should PM her and see what she may be able to tell you.

There may be others with an Everest but I know she lists that machine.

Couple of options here to ponder...(scroll down to look,cpap.com has them both but this page is easier to see both on one page)

Someone down-line recommended the Breathex.... something else you might ask CPAP.COM about when you talk to them in the morning.

Now, if they'd just come out with something like this in a Bipap....

The breathe x is a machine that has to run off battery I think (not sure but that was the way for the first breathe x). There is a limit on pressure for it.

I own an Everest now. I didn't get the humidifier as I got it for power outages and will eventually buy a stand alone HH to use in passover mode. The Everest is small and I found it noisy. You can supposedly rig up several batteries in series with the Everest; I have only one.

If this is a tour, are you traveling during the day between locations so that during the day charging is even available? You might want to check how long it takes for a battery to recharge on these machines.

Well I didn't sleep as well as usual last night, but my apprehension is a tad lower now, having made a decision based upon all the help given here. Decided against the BreatheX (partly because I've not read of very many folks' actual experience with it)--and did order the Everest 2 with the battery, DC adapter and HH. It will arrive tomorrow, so I'll have 3 nights to use it before I leave. Two 220-surge protectors will go with me. As I noted in my other thread regarding the brownout possibilities, both the AEOMed and the cpap.com tech folks assured me that I should not anticipate damage from the brownouts or possible generator periods when recharging the machine, as it has some form of protection internally (hope I understood that correctly) in addition to my using surge protectors. Thanks to all. You're great folks.
And Kiralynx, I SURE hope you won't be seeing a post from me while I'm in Egypt, begging you to find me the emergency DME contact numbers there!! Actually not funny at all. This will be my third machine in 6 months, and I am gasping for air at that!

I hope so, too... why don't you look them up now, and print them out on a sheet that you tuck in with your CPAP on the just-in-case principle?

It's like Samwise Gamgee said in Lord of the Rings: "Rope. If you haven't got it, you're sure to need it."

Now, what I want to see you posting is pix of your travels. CPAPing camelback, anyone?

Spending (3) weeks in Egypt/Jordan next month and Wilderness Travel say no problems with electricity. We will see.

Hobbs, all the best to on your journey as well! I guess I'd suggest that you check it out a little further, or at least go prepared for the possibility of issues with the electricity....

And Kiralynx, I must be a pathetic Google searcher, as I simply haven't figured out how you come up with such great lists of international suppliers! (Of course it doesn't help that I'm at work, and trying to do that in fragments between my actual job activities!) Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated!

I have Respironics, Resmed, and Aeiomed bookmarked. Regrettably, the Respironics suppliers links appear to still be down, so I can't help you, there. (I have notified them of the multiple broken links. If they come back up, I'll be sure to add the information to this thread.)

However, Resmed lists

Egycare: ResMed Products

Cairo

egycare@datum.com.eg

Abtec: Embla Products

Hatem Hassan

for Egypt, and I suspect that if you run into a problem, those folks might be able to help you some kind of way, or direct you to their colleagues who can. Aeiomed doesn't appear to have any distributors in Egypt.

What, do you have to work right up to the time of your departure? I'd be going crazy!

Plr66.....

Years ago, I remember seeing a TV report...of a bank in Beirut that used hundreds of automobile batteries....to run their computers....because the electrical system wasn't reliable. They charged their batteries when power was available.

If you're going to be in one place, you should be able to purchase a car battery.....and a charger....while you are in Egypt. Run your CPAP on 12V....and charge the battery when electricity is available.

Give the battery and charger....when you leave....to the person in Egypt who helps you get your system together.

Note: During the last hurricane, I ran my M-series for two nights....on a 35 Amp Hour gel-cell battery.....like what's used in electric scooters....and probably could have made it a third night without re-charging.

Have a good trip.......and watch what you eat.
