Generally we say "aerophagia" for gas pumped in by CPAP. As OldLincoln pointed out in his post, "flatulence" is generally used to refer to gas generated internally during the digestive process.

I've always been a bit gassy and don't think a change in diet will make much difference as I eat healthily anyway. It's not something I'd look to take medicines or get surgey for. It doesn't bother me too much, I just wondered if others had found the same to happen and clearly they do!!!

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I just came across it. Wanted to throw in another thumbs-up for Nissen fundoplication surgery. My wife had it done about 17 years ago (by one of the original surgeons who did it) and it was one of the best things she ever did. She had severe heartburn and reflux at night, and the surgery completely eliminated it. In her case they wrapped the muscle a bit too tight - something they later attributed to being one of the first surgeries they had done - but it loosened up just enough over the ensuing few months. She had no complications or problems, and has 3 tiny scars about 3/8" long.

Heck, I've always considered flatulence one of the few BENEFITS of CPAP...
