So....I'm now on my fourth night with my new S8 Elite, and I LOVE it! It is SO quiet. I actually had a Respironics M Series for five weeks but had to turn it back in because of switching insurance. And the S8 is so much quieter. The EPR is a lot better than the C-Flex on the Respironics, too. And, I really like being able to check my data on my machine in the mornings.

Now, I have another questions for all of the CPAP professionals. This one is about humidifiers.

I requested a F&P HC150 which my DME had to order. It is supposed to come in next week. For the time being they gave me the Humidaire H3i integrated humidifier as a loaner. I've actually had great success with the H3i. I've had it on 3 and have had no problems with rainout. (I purposely don't have my hose wrapped right now.) Last night I put it on 4. In the middle of the night I woke up and noticed that I still did not have rainout, so I put it on 4.5 to test it out. When my alarm went off I stood up and noticed water running down the tube back to the humidifier chamber, but never had it blowing in my face. So, I would say that it was still pretty successful.

So, my question for all of you wise masters is what are the pros and cons of the H3i for the S8 vs the F&P HC150 stand alone?

Travel. Especially if by air. Other than that none that I know of. And I have both (well my HC is a 100 instead of a 150).

If I could get any humidifier for an S8, I would probably want an H4i, myself, over the H3i that I have now.

You make a good point, Slinky, about travel. I do travel, but air travel is only about once or twice a year. While it is a factor to me, it is a small one.

How well does the ambient tracking work on the HC150? That's the main reason I want to get it.

I can't say. I have the HC 100. I got it used, no manual, etc. It takes a much lower setting to provide much higher level of humidity w/o feeling really warm. Its just really, really efficient. And I don't use it that often.

What's the difference? Note: I have a H4i.

The 4i has a larger capacity and I believe I read it also has a larger heating surface.
