Pretty nice, although in hurricane season, I'd have to be sure they don't get wet. (Along with my Bipap!) Could you, perhaps, do a thread on how you set these up with your marine batteries?

My main interest in a solar-rechargeable BG-222 is that it's small and convenient, which decent marine batteries are not. Plus, I'd have trouble with marine batteries on airplanes....

I would stow the batteries in your checked luggage. Unless you need to use your CPAP on the plane. I am taking a red eye flying for 4 1/2 hours and would love to get some shut eye between midnight and 4:30 when I arrive my destination, I don't know how or if would be possible to take on a battery pack system. Respironics produces a battery pack system for their tanks. But a traditional charging system...which I am sure with some tinkering could add a solar charging add-on.

Well, I hope to be taking a trip to the UK and Ireland provided I can get my pay schedule straightened out. I'd like to be able to use my CPAP on the plane, but I might manage OK if mostly sitting up. The problem is -- I already pack a hunkajunk between the necessary pillows for my back (and now CPAP!) and trying to carry enough safe food for my special diet until we arrive and I have access to a kitchen again. The TSA is real problematic about food, though I'm getting a letter from my doctor which may help. I can just see them if I have a suitcase full of food and then a suitcase with clothes and then a suitcase with pillows and batteries.... if we could figure out a way to drive there, it would be much more practical... but they haven't yet built a trans-Atlantic bridge!

Not sure what you're looking for, but when dry camping (no shore power and no water) I have 2 deep cycle batts that are wired in with a cut off switch on each so either or both can be powering the camper. The solar cells (I use several, larger units) get placed on the roof of the camper or where they get a lot of sun and I'll either use them to continually trickle the batts together or one at a time. In my truck I leave on plugged into the cigarette lighter and placed on the dash where it can see the sky (winter time only) and it keeps the truck batts charged up during the cold months. My truck is used mainly for towing the camper so the battery needs to be trickled all winter long so it won't discharge and freeze.

Depending on how you load the battery during use, you simply buy a cell that has a output that will keep the batt topped off with 4-6 hours of solar charging.

Yes I have a backup machine, as well as a backup battery, backup mask, backup hose, etc etc ect.

yeah i have a backup. it's called the old lady. when i quit breathing i get a fist to the chest and a shout "your machines not working start breathing!" lol

I was disappointed to find out I can't pick up a backup machine on cpapauction. I would have thought no prescription would be necessary when one individual sells a machine to another individual...but apparently a prescription has to be on file regardless if it's two consenting adults.. Oh Well....I guess I will have to find a back up on craigslist.

Track, why not ask your original doctor who scripted your Resmed for a copy of that script? Or even ask your DME provider for a copy?. Its part of your medical records, In the USA you have a legal right to a copy via HIPAA.

Didja notice? 66% of us have at least one backup xPAP? For sure we aren't representative of the general xPAP using population!

Thanks for trying to help Slinky but I took up cpap on my own so I never had any prescription. I bought my resmed on craigslist. I would have a backup by now if I could have purchased one on cpap. Hell..it's not like using a cpap machine is going to kill ya so you need a doctors prescription...just the opposite.

Track, even though eBay doesn't allow cpap machine sales, sometimes there is a good deal available on a buy me now that you can get if you buy it before eBay cancels the auction. I was able to get me a tank model Respironics BiPap Auto with 250 hrs for 300.00. I just searched for Respironics and Resmed and sorted to show highest price first and that let me keep an eye on what was available. If the auction isn't a buy me now, you probably won't get a chance to win because eBay will cancel the auction as soon as they realize it is for a machine.

Ya..too bad. I too was going to pickup a cheapie second machine on there, but I won't now. There is no regulation that requires a script when 2 individuals are transacting, but I'm sure they're trying to cover their backsides. Still, too much effort when they're on Craigslist all the time and usually for less $$$. Use something like craigshelper.com to search more than one Craigslist.
