Yesterday, my brother, David, was injured in an accident, and I'm again in need of some
prayers. He was truly in the wrong place....at the wrong time, and it was a freak
accident. We're all grateful he's alive, but he has a fractured pelvis, hip, and vertebrae,
as well as broken tailbone.

This was the news report:
SHELBY - Bystanders looking over a flipped boat, cracked moped, van, truck and trailer on Elizabeth Avenue attempted to make sense of it all. But with every new onlooker came a common question that no one was able to fully explain: "What happened?"
"A white van was going toward the lake from Shelby," said Highway Patrol Trooper Ben Sanders. "It had to stop for another vehicle in front of it and the van went left of center."
Sanders said the van driver, Robert Lee Strong, of Fullerton Street, Shelby, then met Richard Clayton Hisler, of Kings Mountain. "A black pickup hauling a trailer and boat was coming from the opposite direction," said Sanders. "The van struck the trailer the boat was on and it knocked the trailer and boat sideways, which caused the boat to go sideways."
DAVID J.of Kings Mountain, just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. "There was a man standing beside a moped trying to get directions (at Millsap Road). He was looking at a map," Sanders said. "The trailer hit the moped which in turn hit the pedestrian."
Jensen was thrown about 30 feet after impact, Sanders said. Jensen's helmet wound up in a drainage ditch more than a dozen feet from the wreckage. Sanders said Jensen received a broken hip, but the trooper believed his injuries to be non-life threatening.
Strong was taken to jail after the incident, Sanders said. He was charged with exceeding safe speed for conditions and driving with a revoked license, no insurance and fictitious registration.

Oh my deerslayer....your poor Mom. I will include her in my prayers. Went through the broken
hip /hip replacment with my own mom this year, and its not a speedy recovery, but with rehab
and therapy, and time of course, they can mend well. Now the fx pelvis throws a real curve into
the equation. Hug them all tight & take care of yourself.

Oh, Tim, I'm so very sorry. Not being able to be there must be so awful.

That prayer your doc shared is great. Here's one that I passed along to another good friend a few days ago: "Oh, Lord, please be the salt in my ocean." In other words, floating in the ocean is easier than in fresh water because of the salt in it. Dear God, please support me, because I feel so powerless, and I'm just not getting it done right now. Then I do some visualization of me floating on a very calm ocean, and it really helps. Many, many of us are praying not only for your mother, but also for you and the rest of your family. Just remember that while we're praying, it's God who has the whole situation covered, and He'll get all of you through whatever's down the road.

Several huge cyber-hugs. Hang in there, my friend.
Marsha

(All of that goes for you and yours, too, Yorkiemum. )

yorkiemum01 ....not a whole lot of news. surgery was successful last night . this morning nurses had mom get out of bed which was hard on her as you can imagine-pretty much wore her out . thank goodness my oldest daughter is keeping tabs on mom.this was her report as of lunch time. mom does not yet have a phone in her room but nurse said it would be ok if she used daughters cell tomorrow.minister visited last night. another plus is that my sons mother in law is a Rn at this hospital and has stayed on top of things and has pushed some buttons to facilitate positive actions. she told us that mom got her choice of orthopedic surgeons for the task ! i dread thinking of the near future when the decision is made for rehab. i pray she will be able to return home at some date. my wife and i could spend a few weeks around Christmas to help her. i guess we just have to take one day at a time and trust a higher power. we sure do appreciate all the positive thoughts and concerns..it sure beats the heck out of going it alone... my cell battery has croaked the last couple of days from over use, but thats a good thing. it beats seeing everyone at the funeral home. God Bless ! tim

glad to hear she's recovering and has such a loving family surrounding her.
Rehab stinks, but no doubt they will offer her the physical therapy and care
she'll need. Keep updates coming.......prayers continue your way.
Be well.
