It's good you're experiencing improvement!!! I'm still waiting for my "magic moment" like the day after my titration. Hasn't happend, but I'm continuously feeling better......

You are showing a tank machine with an "M" Series heated humidifier. I did the exact same thing when I was picking out my icons. And I believe it was jim who pointed it out to me, over a year ago. Thanks, Jim for keeping us straight.

It's a little more than that, A "Plus Classic" won't work well with "M"eries HH. So I would Guess they have on or the other system or maybe it's a Resmed with a F & P HH.

I have suggested that the Admin's remove th Icon for that reason, but it probably in their best interest to have the icon clicked on a hundred times a day, after a while it gets old, when text usually tells you what you need to know to help. (As long as the people who input it know what equiptment they were sold.) Sorry for the useless rant! Compaired to what goes on today, it doesn't matter much. Jim

Wow, thanks for the warm reception. I've been on the hose for about 2 weeks now. The nasal pillow was pretty easy to get used to, its the dangling hose that more of a source of irritation. I woke up this morning with the machine off and the mask and hose on the floor and I don't remember taking it off. That kind of concerned me.

I edited my machine as I did have it wrong. It's right now. And I switched it to text too.

Mike, since you've had the "Plus" machine only two weeks, there's a good chance you could talk the DME (the home health care store) that gave you that machine to exchange it for a different model CPAP. See if you can get them to swap your Plus for a Pro ... Respironics REMstar Pro M series.

The Pro is EXACTLY the same machine as the Plus, but... the Pro will record full data -- info that lets you know if you're getting leaks, what your treated AHI is... useful things to know about how your treatment is going at home. The Plus can't record or show you any of that. The Plus records only "hours of use" onto the Smart Card.

The longer you keep the Plus, the less likely the DME would be inclined to make an exchange for you. They won't need a new prescription or anything from the doctor to do that, since the Pro is just a "cpap" machine like the Plus is. Your current prescription for cpap can be filled with the M series Pro machine... if the DME will do that.

If they won't (and if they are not the only DME provider your insurance will deal with) tell them politely that if they don't have an M series Pro machine for you, you'll be returning the Plus and will go to a different DME store to get the Pro. The prospect of losing your business might suddenly remind them they do just happen to have a Pro they can swap for you.

I'm new to this CPAP-world as well as this world of sleep apnea knowledge.
I'm from Finland and I was diagnosed as having central sleep apnea about 2 weeks ago.
First I got an autotitration machine for 5 days and then a CPAP (pressure set to 12 cm H2O) with nose mask from local
sleep policlinic. I haven't yet seen my diagnose, since the paperwork may be unfinished still,
so I don't know my AHI yet, but I think it's higher than harmless, since I have somewhat high CO2-tolerance (the doc said).
I guess that's why the treatment was started right after the night in the clinic.

Don't be freaked out about the ripping the mask off thing, it falls in the category of "common newbie problems". If it happens again tonight post a question on the problem and many who have had it will give you ideas on how to correct it.

I'm not a nasal pillow user, but other folks will help with this, I'm sure. Hose-wise, I've got my nasal mask set up so the hose attaches from above my head, which may or may not help you. Folks in this forum have come up with all sorts of ideas to get their masks and headgear to do what they want it to do, so I'm sure you'll figure it out.

It's a great little forum; glad you're not lurking anymore!

Hope you can get the full report from your sleep study soon. Is "Central" apnea the only thing they've told you you have? Any "Obstructive" sleep apnea too?

If you have Central Sleep Apnea, it usually takes a very specialized type of machine to treat that. The usual regular cpap, autopap, bipap machines can't generally handle CSA (Central Sleep Apnea) very well.

When you find out what your complete diagnosis is, I hope you'll start a new topic about it. I think you'd get a lot of feedback.
