My first thought when it didn't work this time was to blame the hardware, so I bought a new reader. I hate messing with software, even if I've had to write my share. Windows is so monstrous it's a wonder anything works. Makes you want to go back to cpm and msbasic (8k) (oops, my age is showing!)
I didn't think you were rude.
Sorry - I go *way* back before cpm and msbasic --- I won't give away just how far back I really do go

for the newer Aflex apap it needs to be 1.8 but for the older cflex apap m series 1.6 will do as long as it's XP and not Vista
Actually, M series needed only 1.7 to generate reports, Aflex needed 1.8 or higher. Obviously the higher version is the one to get if you have a choice.

My recollection is that 1.5 came out for the auto bipap tank and 1.6 came out for the m series. I have 1.4 myself which is what was for sale 3 years ago when I started.
I don't recall seeing 1.7 for sale at cpap.com but it was supposedly available in european markets - this is all foggy memory on that.

It is amazing how easily incorrect info gets around (and I'm as guilty as anyone else). That's why we have you, Snoredog, to keep us honest

Jules,
Your recollections are the same as mine. And, I'm still using 1.4 for my daily downloads......and 1.6 on another backup computer for weekly downloads.....but then, I don't have any M Series machines.
I've been under the assumption that anything higher than 1.6.....like 1.8, was needed for Vista or the A-Flex machine.

I had this happen and the fix is really simple. Download my CPAP Card Utility ver 1.4 and it will do the work for you. Nice freebie from mycpap.org and it works every time. I bought a card before I figured this out.

Sleeprider,
That card utility program is useless if the card reader isn't recognized by the system......which is the problem that the original poster was having, after using it successfully for some time.

It appears I FINALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM - It turned out to be a bad memory card. Services.exe tended to get loaded into the same general memory location, and was crashing due to some bad memory, thus Encore Pro would not see the card reader, no matter what I did as to installation. I have removed my 2GB memory, replaced it with the original 512K that came with the machine, and every thing seems to work! My replacement cards arrive Friday, and hopefully will work as well. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.

Congratulations on finding the problem!
