alnhwrd wrote:Yeah, all of the above should have been a choice, and would have been most accurate. I did pick the driving one, because no longer falling asleep at the wheel was an immediate benefit without which death/serious injury was most imminent, and would have prevented the other benefits from occuring. But I like all of the benefits, and wouldn't give it up for anything!
Falling asleep driving is when I decided I had a problem.

Someone who selects any one of the symptoms has not educated himself about all of the types of damage sleep apnea does.

I'm with Brenda. I'd hate to wake up dead. It would really mess up my day.

I voted A but I too think "all of the above" would have been more apropriate. I am sleeping so much better. Not neccessarily longer yet. I know I am getting to a deeper level of sleep. I am even having dreams. Dreams that do not involve being unable to breathe. Life is good!

I like CPAP because it's a torture.

If "they" (doctors) told me tomorrow that my sleep apnea was cured-I'd still use XPAP at lower pressure. After a life of allergic rhinitis and nasal congestion interruping my sleep-it is no longer a problem. The warm, filtered, humidified air has eliminated my nightime congestion-as well as daytime problems of runny nose and sneezing. It may also be that the pressure "inflates" my nasal passages. During the fires in California this year we got a lot of smoke and I had a return of bad congestion. I noticed that after hooking up to XPAP I could breath easily through my nose and as soon as I took off my mask in the AM I was stuffed up again. Guess that is what it is supposed to do-keep the airways open! It is preventing apneas which lowers my blood pressure and stops my nighttime cardiac arrhythmias. It works! Count my vote as a blessing on 4 counts!

Unfortunately, pap therapy has been torture for me. But because not using the machine is not an option, I continue to do what I can so that I can write a different script.

I am happy for the folks who have had success with pap therapy and hope your good fortune continues.
