Does that help you switch the image from "pantyhose" to "strap"?

The tights or pantyhose material is strechy, soft, easy to tie into a knot, and therefore very convenient for stabilizing masks.

Although often presented in red in the illustrious inventor's illustrations and photographs, one need not adhere to that color, straps of various colors have been shown to be extremely effective. However, at this point, there is only anecdotal evidence (well, tons of it) pointing to that fact....

I can just see a man in line at the store buying panty hose for his XPAP mask Now isn't it interesting that I would have no embarrassment over standing in line buying a piece of men's underwear to cut up for my use - probably because women shop for men all the time and it's not thought of unusual. Hey, I see I have a bonus for having to do all that shopping : )

Sorry, I still didn't see any pictures to pantyhose around the head.
I'm still not seeing it in my mind even after the verbal description.
Is there a visual image of someone with the pantyhose over the head.
I keep seeing something like a bank robber as a visual. Is this wrong?

LOL - I'm visualizing a sleep deprived person going to the bank with panty hose pulled over their mask, not realizing they forgot to remove it. While I'm not the pantyhose/tights strap guru, haven't made or used one, I think it works this way.

Just visualize laying out a long piece of stretchy fabric a 2-3 inches wide. Pick it up and place the middle on the mask where you need stabilization (not covering any vents) and taking the two ends to the back of the head and tie to secure.

I have no problem standing in line with pantyhose tights -- or other items that women tend to need or want. Never have. Goes with the territory......
I choose to use black ones. My objection is the cost of a good quality pair of tights -- At Target it's $12.00+ for something I'm just going to cut up?? Sheesh..... They work well with the PAP-Cap from pur-sleep...
What I really need to do is find a fabric that is similar to pantyhose tights and do some experimentation. I don't think the cotton duck that T-shirts are made from is quite flexible or stretchy enough -- I have some of that tie-dyed already - just need to get off my fat butt and try it .....
When I do that, I'll try to submit some pictures that RG can add to the collective wisdom of self made straps (not worthy of Lab Rat status as it's just a variation on a theme)!!

cheers

I would like to reply to Goose about the stretchy material he is seeking. I have made a number of homemade headgear from the material sold for bathing suits. You can get this kind of material at a fabric store. Ask the store person to show you where it is. Before you buy it, test it to see which way stretches more, the length or the width. If it is the length- that is the way it will be rolled on a bolt - you will need to get enough length or yardage to tie (or as I do - sew) it around your head.

I sew strips of stretchy material into loops that fit snugly around just like the straps of tights. The cost per yard will likely be less than the cost of tights, and you will have lots of material to use and experiment with as the material is quite wide.

You can even find lots of other fabric that has the stretch you are wanting. The person at the store will help you.

.... as long as the others standing in line with tights are of the female gender.

Could be quite titillating!

Ahhhh. Mr. Rooster, you are soooooo right!!!!

And to Catnapper -- thanks a million for that info!!!! I hadn't thought of a fabric shop, so I'll put one on my travel list next time I can escape the asylum I usually get my materials by web orders....
I do tie dye on occasion so I have some fabrics of different types (more often lately since I'm still unemployed and need to generate some level of income -- I'm presently doing my inventory of finished goods and getting ready to get the "assembly line" working again - and I still owe Babs.....). I find the cotton duck that T-shirts are made of to be fairly stretchy.....My concern however, is like a T-shirt, it will stretch and become "elongated" over time.....which I guess wouldn't be all that bad -- I'd just make some more straps and figure out what to do with the ones I've worn out ......

Again, thanks for the great suggestion!!!!
Take care
cheers

The only problem with this picture is that we couldn't get my ity-bity mask on Teddy's big honkin nose.

cakimmer, Thanks for posting and sharing your professional experience! Everyone seems to have dry eyes, but I have watery eyes from waking until about 2pm in the afternoon! Been on CPAP since last February, and have gotten progressively more tears! I have used a comfortgel nasal and now use a Resmed UltraMirage Nasal and love it. Any insight appreciated.
