My cotton string works great.

Hi Gerald,

There are more scientific sources besides a group like EJF or OCA that I can post, but harder to read.

I had to stop wearing regular cotton and synthetics for a few years while my immunity was strengthened and my chemical sensitivity reduced. Most forum members would probably not have problems as I do. Even though I do wear regular cotton and synthetics now, I do draw the line with ingesting or in this case inhaling any residual chemicals.

Gasp -- I love your little jacket.....I'm going to have to figure out how to do one for my Headrest. I'm looking at Geralds wick fix, but I'm a little leery of inhaling cotton fibers that may release from the string....maybe it's an unfound phobia, but living in the Sacramento area, I already put enough "crap" in my lungs (even though I'm in the mountains).....

I was actually thinking about Geralds fix the other night when I switched over to the ComfortGel because I don't have to dump it twice a night.....
I don't seem to have a problem with the small hose causing any rainout, but in winter I do cover the 6' hose with a cover made by a forum member.....and it's only the condensation of my breath, not the humidifier that seems to cause me the issue....

Thanks for the idea!!! And congratulations on the Lab Rat award!!!!

cheers

Woo hoo! What an honor. I will post in depth instructions when I deconstruct it and attach Velcro, including measurements.

Thanks goose! I took the same fleece and wrapped it around the 6" hose on the headgear using a Velcro straps to secure it. This 'fix' results in two small dumps a night versus 3 large ones that left the cushy area rug beside my bed wet in the morning.

I'm still knitting a cap for the headgear to see if it further reduces condensation.

Don't know whether to laugh or cry--after i order one of Karen's Amazing CLII little bolero
jackets, and attach organic shoestrings--kinda like the drooly dog in "Turner and Hooch."
Maybe now we are fashionably canny enough to take on Project Hosehead Runway.
I love this list!

LOL!! "Project Runway" is one of my favorite TV shows, despite this season's bunch being so blah compared to past two season.

I can just see Tim Gunn with his finger alongside his cheek and a quizzical little frown, watching as a bunch of cpap users cut, saw, stitch, stuff, rip apart, tape, glue, and stomp their masks into something unrecognizable. And gleefully put the things on our faces!!!

To paraphrase a comment Tim made last season...
"We've been living in the Rat house too long."

Catnapper had a great idea for a Headrest "jacket" that she called an A-line dress for it.

Cut off the end (or toe) of the tights leg, cut a small hole in the center of the toe, and slip over the Headrest nose piece. Of course, one should measure the length to suit. She suggested it to me for avoiding contact with the skin, and keeping the nose a bit warmer in a cold bedroom.

This would solve three problems:

1. Silicone contact with my face;
2. Cold nosed sleeping sans dog; and
3. Using the toe of the tights while still retaining the remainder of the leg for tying purposes.

One could also tailor the A-line dress for a better fit. Another option: use a piece of tights leg that is open on both ends and sew an appropriate seam or two to make the "dress".

Thanks, Joanie!

I agree this season is blah - it lacks substance. I can see the same finger alongside his cheek as he says his famous quote, "I'm concerned". : )))

I'm sure he (Tim Gunn) wouldn't like my version of Joanie's A-line dress at all. Still, he can come an re-do my wardrobe anytime.

Where do these people learn that 'accent' that just drips superiority, even if they don't necessarily act as if they are...which they aren't because only those who are insecure need to establish such superficial superiority.

Did that make any sense? Image

Well said - nice run on too : )

A sociolinguist would say that only sign language has no accent -to which I say having a family member who uses sign language it indeed has an accent. Sign language accents are in the facial expression and smooth or sharpness and so on of the sign.

As to an accent of superiority, we may say that it is our own affected accent of one that is perceived by us as one without the air of superiority, that when contrasted with Tim Gunn's, would show his as one of an affect of superiority. In other words, it is being different from him that allows us to be aware of his. I used to live in California and when returning home to the Northwest, found people thought I had a California accent. I thought, what the heck was a California accent? I've since lost it, or those who perceived it have lost the ability to sense it.

OK, Gasp, would you post a template and the dimensions for your 'little jacket'? I'm going on 3 weeks using cpap, and have posted a few times re nasal irritation. Most people here suggested the heated humidification, so have been experimenting with it. I do have a few drops of condensation during the night, even tho I've covered the 6' hose with a purchased fleece cover, and put the cpap machine on the floor so it would definitely be low. I'm thinking now your jacket might be the solution to the continued condensation. I didn't use the humidification for the past 2 nights, and now have the sinus/nasal irritation again so I know I do need to use the humidifier. I'm not much of a seamstress, but figure your dimensions and instructions would save my sanity in making one of these covers. Thanks!

I just returned from a weekend of celebrating our anniversary and need to catch up on work etc. Until I get to posting the instructions including measurments, you could do the following:

Lay out a piece of single layer microfleece
Place the nasal piece on top of fleece near an edge
cut out a square that would loosely fit one side of nasal piece
use that square to cut out another square
slip one of the squares under the metal piece - trim as necessary to do this
hold the nasal piece and place the other square on the opposite side of the metal piece side
trim to take away excess material leaving enough to stitch the two sides together
stitch being careful to not poke a hole in the nasal piece : )
voila

My thin single layer microfleece allows me to wash the entire piece in the morning as it dries by night time.

Hope this helps : )

Thanks! I did wrap it and put it under the metal piece and secured it with a paper clip, but it works. Still have some droplets of condensation, even at a 1.0 setting on the humidifier.
