As has been said before, try loosening the mask a bit. The way the seal was designed, the pressure is supposed to press it against your face, not the elastic headgear holding it tight on your face. Looser will also leave less of a mask mark on your face during the morning hours. It should leak less, too.

The bottom strap on the headgear on my UMFF hits me where my skull meets my neck. This seems about right.

Unlike Den, I get the best fit with the forehead support piece bent almost to the max (next to last notch.)

If you’re leaking around your nose, I find that moving the mask down (lower) on my face helps. Maybe worth a try. I find that having the hard part of the mask about even with the bottom of my chin is about right for me.

I find that the fit of full face masks is critical. The evil DME gave me a medium shallow and it leaked terribly. The size guide at CPAP.com said I needed a medium standard. I ordered one of those and it was a huge improvement.

I find that I leak more with the UMFF when the pressure on my Auto goes above about 12 cm. If there’s a magic bullet to fix this I would like one. The UMFF is the best mask I’ve tried, but this is one problem I haven’t yet solved.

Mask fit is such an individual thing that what works for one does not work for someone else. The secret is to keep trying little adjustments, one at a time, until you find the mask and setup that works best for you.

Wayne, thanks for the suggestions. But whenever I loosen the mask it leaks. And that puffing thing happens. I tried moving the forehead support in different positions, but it has to be straight up or it leaks around my eyes. I'm at a loss.

Hi again. It is possible that the mask may not be a good 'fit' for your face and that you need to explore others. Can't remember your orig. note, but have you looked into e.g. the Quattro or Hybrid (both FF ones but use 'pillows' (air forced upward from the top of the mouth part of the masks into your nares), rather than having a mouthpiece extending down from the nasal part of, say, an UM FF mask.

My DME rep said I could try this one for 30 days, so if I can't get this one working, I might try another one or go back to my original mask. I can't remember exactly what she said, but it seems like she didn't have many choices available. We talked about one mask (can't remember which one) and they didn't carry it. I don't think I would like those pillows and my pressure is kind of high for that anyway.
