Okay, I'm sold! Or buying...or something!

It will have to wait until payday, but I'm going to order. Just need to decide what scents to choose.

I love lavender, juniper, white tea, ginger - those kinds of non flowery or non sweet scents. The peace sounds really good.

Suggestions? I'm on a diet, so I'm afraid I'd be sleep eating my chinstrap if I do the candy/food scents!

I am a lousy housekeeper, but have my apap sitting up cause I wouldn't want to be breathing in all the dust and crud from around my cords and floor!!! Even with the filters that can't be good on one's lungs.

Sleepycarol -- I got used to having it down on the floor because back when I was diagnosed in 2003, I was told by the DME that it had to be below my bed or I'd get water backup in my hose. My nighttable is the same height as my bed so the only option was the floor. Besides, the Remstar Pro had a cover on the air intake over the filters os it didn't seem so bad. I didn't know about cpaptalk.com in those days so I did what I was told, dust, cords and all. When I would clean my grey filter and change my white filter (trust me, not very often), both weren't that bad.

Now this new M Series I just got last week doesn't have a cover, just filters so I was a littled concerned about that. But I did also buy a whisper cover, which covers the filters so I've using that. That, by the way, is another reason I don't think I'd be able to use the PurSleep anyway because that whisper cover just has a little hole at the top of the plastic cube.

Thanks
France

I've been CPAP'n for a few months now and still woke up 2 or 3 times a night. But ever since a friend let me try the Pur-Sleep "Calm", I have not awaken once during the night (even through some big thunderstorms and dogs barking too)!!! Not to sound like a pitch man for the product but I wouldn't never go to bed without my PurSleep!!!

frapilu : i have the same problem as you. to solve the dust issue - i now put my cpap in a plastic box on the floor. at night the cover is off to allow airflow - in the morning i just plunk the top of the plastic box on to keep the dust out. Once in a while when i am cleaning the hose, etc, I also rinse out the inside of the plastic box. Works great, and is easy maintenance. Avoid breathing in dust too!
Alternately, I just put the lid on the box and then put the cpap on top of that. It's still below my bed, but then at least it's off the floor.

BTW, rain out will be due to condensation, and may or may not be affected by placing the cpap higher. Plenty of people on this forum place the cpap level with the bed, or even higher, and it doesn't cause them a problem. So you might try experimenting with putting the cpap on the nightstand. It not like the water is actually getting pushed up the hose. YMMV.

TheShootist, I guess I AM the PurSleep pitch guy but this is exactly what happened to me--For the first year on CPAP I never once was able to sleep past 2 am--I woke up every night like an alarm clock. The first night I used the PurSleep idea I remember thinking "Wow! This is too good to be true" and I fell asleep and slept all night. Ever since then I've felt constrained to develop these products--and it's very gratifying to hear stories like yours!

This sounds interesting, but I have one question. Will my husband be able to smell it? He doesn't even like air fresheners in the bathroom, etc!

Without Pur Sleep I didn't want to put the mask on my face. I dreaded the plastic smell - especially when I had a new cushion. With Pur Sleep, I look forward to which scent I will use. I bought every scent there was and line them up like a buffet : ) Before bed, I decide which scent I feel like or need. Some help keep my sinuses clear and others are just calming or fun. I love putting vanilla and orange together for creamsicle for fun - hubby likes it too : )

It is so mild however, that it doesn't permeate the room. This could be a good thing or a bad thing. Sometimes I've thought about buying the room aroma disburser at their sister company to get it into the room from time to time.

Essential oils are a WHOLE different ballgame than air fresheners. My hubby LOVES the scent of essential oils, most especially Spice, but hates air fresheners (they give him a headache)

The "air candy" line (not essential oils like the others) can have a bit of an "air freshener" feel to them, and I found that the "Strawberry" one did linger in the bedroom long after the evening was over. However, I've enjoyed using "Peace" and "Calm"--they are much more natural and fade into the background as you fall asleep.

echo - that's a good idea, the plastic box. I'll have to think about that. I'm really not sure about putting the apap too high. When I was on a trip once, I ended up putting the cpap higher, can't remember why. It took me quite a while to figure out that the booming noise I kept hearing half the night was water in the hose. Probably a lot of condensation. I've since gotten a fleece wrap so probably it wouldn't do it anymore. But I'm still leary about it. But I like the idea of the box.

Thanks

Sleepyguy...

I have the pursleep set-up and went to your website to see about ordering and extra pad and I couldn;t find it. Can I order an extra? I like to use different scents w/o having to wash the pad so often. Also, I read the post above with the suggestion of samples so that you can SNIFF the scent before choosing one. I like that idea too! Just a little paper sample in a 42 cent envelope and I could decide which one to buy next...worth thinking about! I also agree that it is soooooooo much more pleasant to fall asleep to the aromatic scents than plastic and mustiness. I find one drop plenty strong for me (sensitive smeller) so I sit the diffuser about 12 inchs from the intake filter and i still get a nice light scent all night!

Debbie you read my mind! I was thinking the same... SleepGuy could send a sampler of scents very easily that way!
