Me, too, hobbs. ResMed S8 II Autoset

I guess I lucked out with doc and his specific Rx for APAP.... and possibly for this machine specifically....

As much as I would LOVE the software, I cannot afford it,......although am tracking numbers available every morning on LCD to compare how I feel, the numbers, whatelse is going on with me, etc.

The ResMed S8 II Autoset was at the top of my selection list, however the best price I found for machine, humidifyer, card reader and software was about $400. more than the M-Series A-flex "bundle" at $900.00. If someone else is paying for it great...I'm sure it is fine equipment, however, is it that much better?

I'm with Slinky. The Resmed S8 11. I have tried the resperonics and the Tyco goodknight and find the s8 much quieter and having the lcd screen for data is great. I dont have my software yet and find reading the data is very helpful. Not sure how much the software is in America but in Australia Resmed will supply the software at no charge. not sure what the charge would be for delivery but it might be worth checking out. cpapaustralia.com.au has good prices.

I hope Wrenna has a machine by now.

Of course you've already chosen your machine, but I wanted to mention somewhere that the S8 II has one new and hidden feature not mentioned in any literature or online feature list AFAIK. In the clinician's set-up menu there's this option: "epr fast" or "epr normal." Setting this to "fast" has really helped my comfort level; with the "normal" option, I felt as though I was constantly fighting the machine in order to breathe.

I wish I'd known enough to insist on an APAP simply for periodic self-titration.

It's looking like a significant number of folks here prefer the ResMed S8 Elite II over the Respironics M Series Auto. This is a comparatively minor question, but with respective humidifiers, is the S8 Elite a good deal bulkier for travel, as it appears to be in comparison to the M Series?

Actually, if you check the specs at cpap.com the Resmed S8s and S8 IIs are 1/2 lb LIGHTER than the M Series and the carrying cases are about equal in size as I remember when seeing them (its been awhile). That assinine power brick set up of the Respironics I'm guessing is the culprit. Certainly if you are changing motel every night when traveling so that you have to assemble and disassemble your xPAP every night or couple of nights the Resmeds are a LOT more convenient than the M Series. I'm lazy and that is one of the reasons I prefer the Resmeds, my first reason being the ease of access to data via the LCD w/o all the extra plugging and unplugging of the power cord.

You definitely want the Resmed S8 Elite !! You can check your stats every morning on the screens. The machine is very quiet --and compact. Does not take up much room on your night stand and comes in a cool luggage bag to take the machine when you travel. My DME had no problem getting me the machine --this is the one I asked my doctor to write a script for......

I really like my new Devilbiss Intellipap Auto with data.

It's quiet.... the software is super easy to use, and it's small.

And I really like my Sandman Auto and its software. As soon as you turn it off, you can see that session's data on the LCD: duration in hours and minutes, AHI, whether or not it considers leak to be ok or not and average pressure. You scan scroll back through several previous sessions, too.

The software is great ... If I get up in the middle of the night, it will stitch together the pieces and show it as one night. I can also do the waveform report for a single night or for many nights (haven't found a limit yet). Central apneas are counted separately. Also, I don't need to download data every week since it holds somewhere around 100 sessions.

The APAP has a setting to prevent the machine from "chasing" apneas so I can actually use APAP again.

The only downside is the integrated humidifier.

I used Respironics M-Series with AFlex for about a year prior to this.

My Sandman Auto is being replaced and it was covered under warranty (dispite the fact that in the manual it says leakage into machine is not covered ).

My replacement is being shipped to me and should be here within the week. I had written the company a letter explaining how both accidents happened while in bed) and they have been very good. Cpap.com is also very helpful and didn't have a problem with having it sent back either.

I found a small drawer...perfect size except length, but I have a perfect size heavy audio thing that will fit perfectly in the extra length. I was going to have a custom made box to set the Sandman in so it can't tip over. Looks like this small drawer is going to work out nicely. It should be snug as a bug in a rug. If I find out differently, I will get the box custom made.

If you order from cpap.com you are pretty safe.

I love my Sandman auto, too and think it has the best software, in my opinion.

What happened? Did you sleepwalk and knock it over? I've been afraid of doing that because I've been known to sleepwalk and do other weird things in my sleep. So far so good, but I've been wanting to get some sort of locking drawer or something to put the machine in.

I tried posting twice and lost my message twice. My computer is acting up. Short story, is I was in bed both times. First time my machine was on a night table. The second time my machine was on the carpet by my bed.

Both Covidien and cpap.com have been great and all is well.
