Hi All Shook Up - I too have a ResMed S7 and my DME provider said I could turn that switch (in the back) off during the day if we have any "little feet" around (meaning dogs or cats) that could walk across the machine and accidentally turn the air on. We do - so I turn it off every day.

With my CPAP I switch if off after I wake up and at night I switch it back on again, Mine's got a smart feature....it will shut it's self off of it senses me without my mask. Then if I have it on it will switch it's self back on when it senses I am wearing my mask.

Only hiccup with smart feature is that it can shut off on you if you breath too shallow!!!! As I have experinced it shut off on em while I am still wearing my mask!!! Oh boy, What a way to start the day!

Sometimes I am away from home sleeping away from home and the wire system in hotels and other accommodation sites can sometimes questionable, so having a surge arrestor is a good pe-caution!:

I was just about to post the same thing. I mentioned this thread to my RT and she said that she (or one of her co-workers) had a client who was an Orthodox Jew and was not allowed to use electric devices on the Sabbath. She got around it by getting a dispensation to use it, providing she did not turn it on & off. The RT had to contact the manufacturer to find out if this would damage the machine or its read out and they said it would be fine (don't know which machine it was.)
